Johan Paris has such a misleading name because it is , in fact, not from Paris but from Japan. in fact i don't recall seeing any store of Johan in Europe! The most delectable dish from the bakery would be the mini canele (100g for $3.50), because croissants have been very ordinary. In fact, this cameralized dish is one of the more difficult ones to make!

sweet on the outside, the canelle was a little difficult to eat because it was too hard. i would expect it to be soft but it felt like chewing a lollipop! 100g would give you about 5 pieces of canelle.

Dimsum in a seafood restaurant? Smile Dec 30, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Seafood

The Cantonese style is the most popular and diverse in the list of Chinese cuisine. bowl With a variety of cooking methods and distinctive ingredients unseen in other Chinese cuisines, I was spoilt for choice. In Imperial Treasure Seafood restaurant, each of the dishes is selected to be truly representative of myriad Cantonese flavours.

The restaurant was brightly lit and had no frills in its decorations. The servers consisted mainly of waitresses. They spoke mainly in Mandarin and could understand simple English. They were relatively quick in serving the dishes, but it took a while for payment to be made.

The exterior of the restaurant is very visible, with two doors wide open and very welcoming. There is also privacy for the diners as well because you cannot see the interior. smile

There was a great assortment of dim sum. The refined small bites are exquisitely crafted by our Hong Kong chefs that never fail to deliver consistent and great quality.

Yam Puff - SGD4.20

The yam puff looks pretty subdued, but do not be deceived! They are actually quite crispy and flaky. Their crusts reminded me of beehives, and the yam was as sweet as honey. smile I would recommend this dish to all openricers!

Ha Kau - SGD3.60
The Ha Kau was still hot when it arrived. The sticky exterior did not stuck to the paper liner, and the prawns were really fresh and juicy. I like to dip it in ginger with soya sauce.

Chicken Feet - SGD3.60
This is either a you like it or you hate it dish. The chicken feet was not so easy to eat, one must carefully spit out the bones. There was no foul smell and the chicken feet had been carefully marinated to perfection!

Deep Fried Carrot Puff - SGD4.20
The title is really misleading as I thought it would be a puff, though it was actually a carrot cake. The Carrot cake was sticky on the inside and crispy on the outside, and have been deep-fried evenly and thoroughly. It's quite a filling dish and I would recommend 3 or more people to share it.

Shrimp Rice Roll - SGD5.50
The thin rice roll paste was deliciously wrapped in shrimps soaked together with sweet, light soya sauce. I was glad that the sauce was not too sweet, as some restaurants would put too much sugar! The rice roll didn't tear apart easily, and I would highly recommend this dish!

Boat Congee - SGD7.20
I would recommend this dish to be shared among two people. The name, "Boat Congee" goes a long way, as businessmen liked to have a pot of porridge in their boats when they were at sea. It includes dough fritters (you tiao) and some spring onions. I didn't like to eat it plain without any soya sauce as it tasted a little bland.

HK Vegetable - SGD10.00
This vegetable is actually Kai Lan, also known as Chinese broccoli or Chinese kale. There was only about 5-6 stalks of vegetables and I wouldn't recommend purchase for it. However, it was a great complement to main dishes like porridge or noodles, as these dishes usually lack of vegetables.

Roast Peanuts - Free
The restaurant, like most Chinese restaurants, would give roast peanuts as a starter. The main difference between Imperial Treasure Seafood Restaurant and other types of restaurant is that the peanuts are complementary! smile

You can also get Chinese Tea for SGD2.00 each that is refillable! shocked

There was a rather long queue of the restaurant, but my friend and I persisted in waiting to be seated – there was no second option for us.
The interior of Paradise Dynasty in Westgate didn't disappoint me. Though slightly different from the branch at ION Orchard, it still brings forth the fusion between the imperial chinese reign and modern interior design.

The restaurant’s plush dining ambience is intricately designed to capture the bygone era of Imperial China in a contemporary fashion. It certainly marries tradition with innovation, a match made in heaven. The lightings are a soft glow, and the table was very wide. It's very difficult to stretch your hands across the table to hold your dining partner's hands (if you're with your girlfriend or boyfriend).
Drunken Chicken - SGD7.80

Drunken Chicken - SGD7.80
Be forewarned; this is a cold dish. The chicken was very fresh, and perhaps it have been blanched in boiling water because the pink texture is retained. People who are not used to having cold chicken may be a daredevil to try this exquisite-tasting dish. The light soya sauce, and the simple marination of the chicken in hua diao jiu aroused a certain kind of nostalgia within me.
"La Mian" Sliced Pork - SGD9.80

"La Mian" Sliced Pork - SGD9.80
Savour this bowl of soup while it is piping hot! Paradise dynasty boasts of having 18 types of silky handmade La Mian. This isn't mere puffery, indeed there were chefs in the open-concept kitchen producing the "La Mian" from scratch. The soup was a delicious pork broth, accompanying the sliced pork, an egg and green leafy vegetables.
Mixed Dumpling (8 pcs) - SGD13.80

Mixed Dumpling (8 pcs) - SGD13.80
This may sound like a marketing gimmick, but the colourful creations really do take creativity. Offered in 8 innovative flavours and inspired from northern and southern China, these mixed dumplings is definitely a must-try! It was no surprise to see people dining in only just for the mixed dumplings. You have to eat in this order: original, ginseng, foie gras, black truffles, crab roe, cheese, garlic and Szechuan.
Pan-fried Pork Dumpling - SGD3.90

Pan-fried Pork Dumpling - SGD3.90

After biting through the top of the xiao long bao, one can really see the soup pouring out and the minced meat in that delicious bun! smile

Pan-fried Pork Dumpling - SGD3.90
The dumplings tasted FANTASTIC! It was fried, and then steamed, thus the base of the pork dumpling would have markings of a deep-frying technique. It combines both crispiness and waxiness, that kind of taste where you chew into any steamed bun.

There is a tendency for the service crew to overlook people. I have seen many customers trying to get the attention of the service crew but they are too focused on checking on the kitchen instead of observing the needs of the diners. Some waitresses also do not understand English, and hence there may be misunderstandings if you cannot converse well in mandarin like me. sad

At The Manhattan FISH MARKET, guests are served with american lips-smacking seafood that are fresh but deep-fried. it's a great hangout for big groups, especially with the manhattan fish market opening at suntec city.

My group of friends and i ordered the famous Manhattan Fish n’ Chips, and we wowed at the delight of the Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter! it was a grand indulgence, with the fish n' chips costing only $11.90, and the flaming seafood platter at $16.90! usually they would have promotions and coupons so watch out for that lol

the service wasn't very good because it was packed full of people but i find it acceptable. i was very pleased with the food, despite it being salty and greasy and buttery! tongue

Located in the furthest corner of Dempsey Hill, Roadhouse is indeed the place for people who desires a meal without fuss and stay in the restaurant till it closes. Under the PrivÉ Group branch, Roadhouse is the only modern American diner serving sinfully good American fare in Dempsey Hill. It is not unusual to see many Americans coming in for a coffee or dining in.

There are many different sets of menu which you can choose from, and you can find out more from the roadhouse main website.

The restaurant is very cozy and dimly lit, borrowing the natural sunlight to illuminate the restaurant. The strategic location does not make the view very glaring, but grants a heavenly and peaceful feeling as you dig into your meal.

Roadhouse also provides very good and friendly service. The servers there were very passionate in their jobs, making sure to attend to every customer's needs. Roadhouse is famous for The Terminator Challenge, which requires brave participants to wolf down a 1kg burger within 20 minutes. Upon accomplishment, the burger is free for the participant and their name and picture will be pasted up on the Wall of Fame.

Liquid Cheeseburger Fondue - SGD10.00
Minced beef, melted cheddar, tomatoes & scallions, served with bread biscuits.
The liquid cheeseburger is a must-try for cheese fanatics. You can dunk in the entire bread piece into the melted cheddar. It is great eating it both hot and cold, so you can have a relaxing chat with your dining partner instead of focusing on finishing up the nacho cheese. However, I could hardly taste the minced beef in the cheese fondue.

Mac N' Cheese Bolognaise - SGD20.00
Cheese sauce, rich beef bologanise, aged parmesan, Monterey Jack & garlic bread
One can only wonder what the cheese sauce is made up of, but I am pretty sure that there is mozzarella cheese in there as well. The Mac N' Cheese Bolognaise were sticky and chewy and is great for all cheese-lovers.

Be forewarned though, you have to exercise those carbs away because the base of the ceramic plate is drizzled with too much oil. Thankfully, you can easily shed the fats off because Roadhouse is, well, located on a 'hill' after all.

Simple Brie-Vine - SGD24.00
170g Josper-grilled Wagyu patty, grilled poached bear, brie, sundries tomatoes & wild rocket.

Served with fries & coleslaw, the Simple Brie-Vine is indeed divine. You can select how well you want your beef to be cooked, and they choose the freshest and finest ingredients for you. The fries are crisp and golden brown, and the coleslaw is sweet to taste! My friend lamented that the fries look bigger in portion than the burger though, as if to say that the highlight of the dish seems to be the fries instead.

Cut through the beef and you can tell that the chef is really experienced. The plate is nothing but a chopping board, which may be rather challenging to eat if you're a messy eater. Still, Roadhouse provides a casual experience for the foodies, and if you desire an eatery which provides the ambience, great service and good food, Roadhouse is the way to go.
