Birthday celebration for my hubby Smile Aug 14, 2011

Had a lovely birthday lunch celebration for my hubby at Les Amis Scotts Road. We ordered a 3-course set lunch with appetiser, main course and dessert.

Appetiser:

1) Ciabatta wrapped crispy egg with iberico ham, spinach and australian black winter truffles - Presentation is fantastic! Iberico ham is a bit salty but combine with the crispy egg and truffles, it's kinda compliment each other. Superb dish!

2) Lightly smoked eel "tiede" with crispy pork crouton, horseradish and Dijon mustard emulsion- Eel is very fresh and smoked just right. However it's more towards salty.

Main course:

3) Char-grilled Wagyu rib eye with hen of the wood , lettuce and sauce Perigourdine - i had it medium well. Wagyu is very juicy and fresh. However it may be cooked more towards well done so the meat is slightly tough. Still is very good.

4) Homemade smokey mushroom pasta with maine lobster and spring onions- I find it's a bit salty and i would prefer without the foam though. As to me it kinda create noice for the whole presentation of the dish. Lobster is very fresh and crunchy.

Dessert

5) "A fancy lemon tart" thyme ice-cream- This is really refreshing after having a full meal! And the chef is very creative in the whole presentation. I've always love french desserts! still the best!!!

6) Crispy apple-pear strudel topped with vanilla foam, yoghurt ice-cream and salty caramel- this is their most popular and signature dessert according to the staff there and i totally agree! It was so crispy and the sweetness of the strudel is just nice for me. It's a must try i think.

Les Amis is really a very refine restaurant. Their service is tip-top and all staffs are knowledgeable. They will explain to you on all dishes when served, even the butter used for bread! Thumbs up. When i order my tea, they even provide 2 types of sugar in heart shape! feel so pampered smile

In short, Les Amis - an epitome of style, fine dining with fantastic food and service offered!

Ribeye steak

Ribeye steak

Me and hubby had a very good dinner at Aston Prime recently. I must say it's value for money indeed!

Service was good and food was good as well with NO service charge! both of us had ribeye steak and we are even allowed to choose 2 side dishes to go with our ribeye steak. The steak was succulent and juicy. Certainly a thumbs up for Aston Prime ! Will recommend to all my friends and family smile

Cravings for ramen lunch Smile Dec 18, 2011

Craving for ippudo ramen again! Went there for lunch and as usual, have to queue for at least 45minutes - 1 hour...

Had never ordered their side dishes before except the salad. So today ordered their Ippudo Pork Bun where there's a star beside it...i suppose it should be one of the chef recommendations. It's actually a steamed bun with braised pork and ippudo original sauce. To me their so called original sauce tasted a bit sour and just like mayonnaise to me. Pork meat is tender but frankly speaking i still prefer the chinese style version of " kan bak pao" !

Company dinner  Smile Dec 07, 2011

Just had very good sumptuous company dinner and we celebrated birthday for one of our colleague too!

First dish - Sliced Peking duck served with condiments and marinated pear with vinegar sauce. Definitely one of my favourite! Small portion of the salad served beside the peking duck is well prepared! Very tasty indeed. However the taste did not owerpower the main which is peking duck! It's very crispy and yummilicious... smile

Steamed Canadian sea perch in superior soy sauce. Fish was very fresh and sweet. Again another thumbs up dish.

stewed lobster with superior stock. As compared to other dishes, it's a bit on the loosing side. Although the lobster meat is fresh and crunchy. But it just lack the sweetness and fragrant in my opinion.

stewed "wu xi" spare rib served with deep fried scallop roll with mango. - the mango makes it very refreshing and a unique dish. Spare ribs also cooked till very soft. Good.

Sauteed with Kai Lan vegetables duo mushrooms and truffle oil. This is only a so so dish.

Stewed mian xian with assorted seafood- My favourite dish of the night! Soup base was so tasty that i've finished the whole bowl of soup without a single drop left! "Mian Xian" was so smooth and tasty combined with the freshness of seafood, it's just perfect!
