Satay Bee Hoon Smile Sep 06, 2012

Brought a plate of the satay bee hoon from this stall during lunch time.
Generous amount of the satay gravy is given and this plate of satay bee hoon includes ingredients like sliced cuttlefish, bean sprout, vegetable, cockles and the bee hoon. Firstly, the satay gravy is sufficient cooked and seasoned, has a nice aroma with finely chopped peanuts added in it. As for the sliced cuttlefish, it has a soft and chewy texture and goes well with the gravy. Other ingredients such as the bean sprout, vegetable and cockles used are fresh and well cooked. Lastly, the bee hoon has a soft and QQ texture. Price at $3 per plate and is definitely worth the try.

Categories : Hawker Centre

Brought a plate of the stir fried ginger pork rice from this stall after looking at their wide variety of food made available. Presentation wise is quite neatly and nicely presented with the rice and pork seperated and a pan fried egg topped on the rice. The pork is thinly sliced, has a very soft and tender texture and is cooked with slices of ginger and chopped spring onion. As for the gravy, it is well seasoned, goes well with the pork but is a little too salty. Lastly, the pan fried egg is well cooked and not too oily. Price at $3.50 for this stir fried ginger with pork and the food taste good and is worth the try.

Brought a plate of the indonesian bbq chicken rice with the fries as the side dish.
The chicken is well marinated and grilled, has a mild sweet and slight herb flavour and a soft and tender texture. The gravy wise is not too salty and goes well with the chicken. As for the fries, it has a slight crispy texture, well deep fried, has a slight golden brown colour and is lightly seasoned with salt. Price starts from $3.50 depending on the type of main dish chosen which includes chicken, fish and many more choices.

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

Brought a bowl of the durian ice kachang as dessert after lunch.
Presentation wise not that appealing as compared to other desserts stall and their red beans is added to the top of the ice kachang and not at the bottom. As for the taste wise, the durian taste fresh and refreshing and has a nice aroma. Sweetness wise is a bit too sweet but is still acceptable, ingredients such as the cube jelly, attap seed and the cream corn are fresh and is included in this bowl of ice kachang. Price is reasonable at $2.20 per bowl and this stall sells over 40 different type of cold and hot desserts.

Craving for desserts after lunch and decided to brought a bowl of the barley with ginko nuts and fu zhu.
The main ingredients for this dessert would be the fu zhu followed by barley and the ginko nuts. The fu zhu is thinly sliced, sufficently cooked and has a very soft and smooth texture. As for the barley and the ginko nuts, it is well cooked as well as both has a soft and chewy texture. The soup of the dessert is not too sweet and has a slight pandan aroma. Overall, a good combination of the fu zhu, ginko nuts and barley and this bowl of dessert cost $1.60.
