Chendol ice Smile Oct 18, 2011

I had the Chendol Flavoured Sweet in Heart Snowy Ice from Ji De Chi. It consists of pandan chendol, atap seeds and red beans. The ice, as usual, was fine and melts away in the mouth. I really like the red beans they use. The red beans were much bigger than those used for ice-kachang. It costs $5 and it'd be a good idea to share it.

Awesome Duck Rice  Smile Oct 18, 2011

Categories : Coffeeshop

It has been over 12 years since I last had the duck rice from Shan Duck Rice. I specially went to Tiong Bahru just so to have this duck rice which I ate frequently when I was younger.

Of course the price as increased slightly but its still a reasonable price of $3.00. What amazed me was how the taste was exactly as I remembered. I'm not too sure what the rice was cooked with, but it has a slight herbal-like taste. The duck meat was moist and it goes perfectly with the sauce. I do not like herbal food but the soup, which has a strong herbal taste is irresistible.

Overall, it was definitely worth the special trip and all the walk to look for it. I highly recommend it and during this trip, I brought a friend along who was having it for the first time and she liked it too smile

Blackforest cake Smile Oct 18, 2011

I've had several friends recommend me the cakes from Angie The Choice so I decided to try one of their cakes while I'm at Tiong Bahru Plaza. I went for the old school black forest cake which costs $2.60 for a relatively small slice.

The cream and chocolate weren't too sweet and the cake is very soft and fine. The blueberry had a weird taste as compared to regular blackforest cakes but it tastes pretty good too.

Overall, its probably not worth the money considering their slices are much smaller than other bakeries and the taste definitely doesn't outshine other bakeries'.

Chicken Rice Set Smile Oct 09, 2011
Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Food Court | Chicken Rice

After dining at this food court for the first time the day before, I went back with my family for some chicken rice. Took a photo of the chicken rice set I had but for some reason it wasn't saved.

Anyway, the rice set I had cost $3.50. (The normal set costs $3) They separated the chicken from the rice and there were bean sprouts to go along with the chicken. The chicken itself was pretty moist and the sauce is great. I really liked the taste of their soup too.

It was actually a pretty big serving for $3.50 and it was tasty too. Very worth it in my opinion and possibly one of the cheapest food courts I've seen around my area.

Strawberry cheese puff Smile Oct 09, 2011

Categories : Stall / Kiosk

Wanted to have a quick snack so I decided to try the strawberry cheese puff from chewy junior. Thankfully, it was pretty good. I really like the strawberry jam. It wasn't too sweet and has the nice strawberry flavour. The cream filling was sweet..which is pretty rare considering its Jurong Point's outlet. Overall, it was delicious and cost only $1.30 or something if I'm not wrong.
