Ayza's Teh Halia OK Aug 16, 2011

Whenever I had my meals at the food court on the top floor of the Beauty World Plaza, I would definitely order a glass of teh halia from the Ayza's cafe (should be spelled this way, not 'Azyza'). I wouldn't say that their teh halia was any more special than others, it was just that I like teh halia a lot. The ginger taste wasn't really strong, though I prefer a stronger one. It's really just average. I tried their coffee halia once, it was a disaster. It can't be helped, personally, I think that Indian coffee are generally not as nice as the Chinese one. (I am not being racist, just different preference for coffee). They are not strong enough.

This stall sells many things other than the Teh Halia. I didn't have the chance to try them, maybe next time.

Heng Heng Delights OK Aug 15, 2011

This is one of the 'Zhu Chao' store that my family and I like to patronize on a lazy Saturday night. It is located on the top floor of the Beauty World Plaza, a place near my house. We went there last Saturday night again. This time we went there around 8pm. They are normally quite busy at dinner time. I remembered there was once we waited for nearly an hour for our food. This time we didn't have to wait long, must be because it was late.
We ordered our usual dishes.

Vegetable ('kao gei') soup
The taste was quite standard. In fact it was slightly on the blend side, which suited our taste. It didn't have the bitter taste that was normally associated to this type of soup.

This dish of stir fried beef used to be very good, tender and soft. But this time it was not really tender. The taste was there but the beef slices were a bit too big and chewy.

The price was reasonable. Depending on what you order. We paid less than $10 per pax for three dishes.

Mini Coffee Bun Smile Jul 24, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Bakery

I like bread from Japanese bakery as they are soft and tender. This particular bakery has a good selection of bread. And I like the idea of the mini sized buns. It gave me the opportunity to try more flavour before filling up my stomach. It has a promotion price of 5 buns for $2.95.

This particular bun was bigger than the normal mini bun. The coffee taste was not very strong but I liked the sugar coated on the surface. Very yummy.smile

Best of both worlds Smile Jun 09, 2012

After the prawn noodle at East Coast, my friends and I decided to go to I12 Katong for some desserts. This was the place that one of my friends recommended. She said the Sesame paste and the Almond tea were good. Recently, I was quite hooked on Almond tea, so I thought I should order one. There was really lots of different type of desserts. After another look through the menu, I found a combination of my two favourite desserts, almond tea and sweet potatoes. That's it! This would be my choice.smile
Hmm....the Almond tea was nice, smooth and fragrant, the sweet potatoes were soft and sweet. Not bad. Surely wouldn't mind having one again next time.

Winter Menu

Winter Menu

It has been a while since we last came to Fish & Co. for dinner. It was the end of the year and they have a special menu, something to do with winter. Since it's something different, I ordered the Winter White and Pink Passion. It has baked boneless chicken leg stuffed with Mediterrance salsa served with salmon and grilled white fish....
Winter White

Winter White

The stuffed chicked was a little salty and oily. I guessed the white fish was Dory. It's a little fishy. The sauce on the salmon was very nice. It's spicy. I was not able to tell what was it's ingredients.
Pink Passion

Pink Passion

This is the passion frizzy drink, known as the Pink Passion, that came with the Winter White.
Drumlets and Fries

Drumlets and Fries

I ordered this kid's meal for my son. Little drumlets and fries. Both the drumlets and fries were a little too dry.
Snack Pizza

Snack Pizza

This was a slice of snack pizza. One slice for a reasonable price. Good portion for kids or as snack.

Almost the end of the our meal, we had the opportunity to witness the way Fish & Co. celebrate a customer's birthday. The birthday was asked to stand on a chair, while all the staffs surrounded her, singing the birthday song, making lots of noise. All eyes were on the birthday girl. I thought it was quite embarrassing to stand on the chair. On the other hand, it would be fun for the fun-loving types.
