The restaurant was located under a rather old block of HDB flats, and offered western and Nepal cuisine. For lunch, it also offered set lunch which consisted of a choice of main, garlic bread, soup of the day, day dessert & coffee, tea or milo.

One could also topup $4.50 with any main course to make it a set meal, with  garlic bread, soup of the day, day dessert & coffee, tea or milo.

Nepali Lamb Choila ($15.80+)

Boneless spring lamb leg grilled to perfection, marinated with pounded chilli, garlic, ginger, and Nepali spices served with pulau rice and radish achar

The soup of the day was cream of mushroom, served with a old school type of garlic toast.

The lamb was quite tender without any gamey taste, marinated with spices which reminded me of Indian cuisine. The rice was soft, fluffy, garlicky with pieces of cashew nuts in it.

The dessert was a slice of chocolate chip cake which was light fluffy.

Finished off with a cup of hot milo.

The restaurant was located in the ground floor of the Wanderlust hotel and was taken over by Meat Smith for 3 months until end of April 2017. Instead of the usual menu, it would be offering  Southern American BBQ with an Indian flair cuisine.

Besides its ala carte menu, it also offered 3 course lunch set priced at S$25++ and S$35++, which included

a choice of appetizer :

Na’an & Bombay Butter (ala carte S$4++),

It looked quite oily but it was quite nice, although I would prefer it to be more crispy.

Onion Bajji & Smoked Yoghurt (ala carte S$6++),

Looked quite dark but it was quite crispy and light with the yoghurt sauce.

Crab & Saffron Biryani (ala carte S$24),

The rice pops were lack of crispiness and felt a tab flat (lau hong). It looked more like crab stick salad topped with rice pops.

a choice of main :

For Lunch Set A (S$25++):

MS Cheeseburger (ala carte $20++),

Tomato chutney, Indian pickles, American cheese on a Brioche Bun

Lamb Vindaloo (ala carte S$38++/ 2pax)

(Smoked Lamb Shoulder, Chickpeas, Chopped Salad, Raita & Chapati),

The serving was huge. The lamb was thinly silced and there was no gamey taste. I like that it was served with refreshing yoghurt salad.

Kingfish Collar, Coconut Sambal & Eggplant (ala carte S18++)

For Lunch Set B (S$35++):

Kingfish Collar, Coconut Sambal & Eggplant (ala carte S18++),

Tandoori Chicken & CauliflowerPilaf (ala carteS$24++),

Pork Ribs (Dry Spice or Madras) (ala carte S$26++),

The ribs was chunky, encased with a thick layer of paste. Tender and easy to slice through. Not too spicy but flavourful.

Beef Rendang (ala carte S$25++),

Beef Rib, Carrot & Fenugreek (Additional $20++) (ala carte S$85++/ 2pax)

Served with Pumpkin & Kale Salad (ala carte S$8++)

The salad was packed with the sweetness of soft pumpkin and dried raisins. But it was a tab too much when the lamb vindaloo already served with a side of greens, which made this felt like a repeated dish.

Accompanied the meal with Free Flow Masala Chai Tea (S$5++) which was available in both hot and iced. Felt that the taste of the tea was a tab too weak.

Between 2 females, the food was a tab too much and we could not finish up.

Recently the cafe had updated their menu and there was a number of new items on the menu for one to try out.

Spam Waffle (S$12)

Home-made bamboo charcoal waffle with spam & gruyere cheese, butter scrambled eggs, baked beans, sour cream

The  cafe was well known for its waffles and recently it came out with its first savoury version of waffle. The cafe had added charcoal to the

waffle, not only because it was different from the waffle, but also charcoal was good for health too. Cut through the black colored looking

waffle, one was able to see chunks of spam and cheese inside. The waffle  was light and crispy, with the yummy fragrant of the cheese, savoury

additive taste of the spam and finished off with lingering taste of the cheese.

If you like desserts, don't forget to check out its dessert display counter which changes its special items every wednesday.

Mango Panna Cotta ($4.50)

It  was one the dessert special items. Served in a flute glass, and topped with a flower on top. Rich creamy mango flavour, topped with crumbles

and crispy pops.

I finished the meal with a cup of Latte ($4.50) which was rich and fragrant. Peaked one up to be ready for work.

Please  take at the moment only cash was accepted as the NETS and credit card machine was down. There was no GST or service charge. There was also water to help yourself to at the counter.

When night fall, Par Shi Restaurant 巴西餐廳 an old school coffee shop turned into an outlet only serving mookata, which was a combination of a Korean barbecue and a Chinese hot pot.

Menu was a simple 2 sided piece of paper.

The version here used brass pan on gas stove, served with house brewed chicken broth which was made with no MSG or salt.

We started by rubbing the chunky pork lard around the dome of the pan, to make sure the pan was well greased before barbecuing.

Assorted Platter (S$39.90/ 4 pax)

The platter consisted of marinated chicken, marinated pork, black pepper chicken (replacing pig liver which was not available that day), black pepper pork, pork belly, sotong, fresh tiger prawns (4 pieces), hot dog, crab sticks, xiao bai cai, beijing cabbage, enoki mushroom, vermicelli, eggs (2 pieces). The marinated chicken and pork were marinated with lots of finely minced garlic, tasted very flavourful and tender.

Don't forget to have the barbecued items with its in house Special Homemade chilli sauce, which was served topped with chopped peanuts. The gao gao chilli sauce was surprisingly not too spicy, slightly tangy with a hint of sweetness in it.

Special Pork Belly (S$7.90)

The Special Pork Belly which looked normal, was marinated with special seasoning. It had a kind of sweet taste even dipped in the tangy nutty chilli sauce.

Mama Noodle (S$1.50)

We added the instant noodle at the end of the meal. The noodle soaked up the flavours of the soup very well and quite tasty on its own.

We accompanied the meal with a glass of Thai Ice Tea ($3.50) which was made with coconut juice. The drink was milky and rich, without being too sweet.

Overall the food was great and reasonably priced. Quite a find in this part of the town.

Thai style Wanton mee Smile Mar 03, 2017

The stall was located inside a coffeeshop. It was well known for its thai style wanton noodles and attracted long queue. But today it was raining quite heavily during lunch time, and it like a queue of 8 persons in front of me, so was too bad. While queuing up the staff took order and payment. Don't forget to help yourself to the condiements such as deep fried lards, green chilli, and chilli flakes.

Wanton Mee Regular with extra ingredients ($5)

The serving looked fairly small in the huge bowl. Although the noodles looked rather dry without sauce, it was quite tasty on its own. The cured fish sausage was not bad, topped with 2 pieces of deep fried wantons, but the char siew was lacking the sweetness which I preferred. It served with 2 wantons in soup.

Pig intestines ($2)

It was served with slices of raw garlic. The serving looked quite small. Although tender, the intestines still had a quite powdery texture with a slight bitter taste. A hint of need of a better cleaning job.

Overall food was not bad but I felt it was a tab overpriced.
