Good place to come for after meal ice cream. i highly recommend their apple or banana crumble sizzling pans. Even though the menu says each sizzling pan serves two, I suggest you share with a third person because unless you are really hungry, this dish is hard to polish off. Also, if you do not have a sweet tooth, then it might be better to go for other dessert alternatives like dark chocolate ice cream. My favourite main course would be the curry chicken baked rice, VERY fragrant. All my friends were really jealous because my baked rice smelled so good. The only complaint would be to make it less oily – I felt really guilty looking at the oil while eating! Other dishes we ordered were the mushroom baked rice(see image) and fish and chips. I felt that the mushroom baked rice was too cheesy, no complaints with the fish and chips.

Modesto’s @ Elizabeth Hotel Smile Sep 21, 2011

Categories : Italian | Hotel | Pasta | Pizza

Modesto’s @ Elizabeth Hotel is a quaint pizza restaurant located off the road from Orchard Road. This makes it a really good place for relaxing after a long day of shopping because its so quiet and cozy here. The downside of this is you probably should get transport in because you don’t want to walk all the way in wearing your 5 inch platforms and carrying your countless bags of clothes. Service here is impeccable, the staff are always ready to attend to your every need. The pizza here may not be very filling, but its tastes fantastic. We had a woodfired Diavola (all their pizzas are wood fired) and the crust wasn’t too thick like those from pizzahut and California pizza, neither was it too dry like the thin crust pizza from Wheelock place. The toppings were not stingy either. I also ordered

a bloody mary, though I did not find it as impressive as their food, it could have been a little bit stronger.

Recommended Dish(es):  Diavola Pizza

Caesars Wine and Oyster Bar Cry Sep 21, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Bars/Lounges

The first thing about Caesars is you have to know that though the name of the place is Caesars Wine and Oyster bar, they DO NOT serve oysters. Which is quite dumb. It is visited mostly by men, probably due to the skimpily dressed waitresses? When I stepped into Caesars, I found the place populated by men taking advantage of the 1 for 1 Tiger Beer promotion they had on. In my opinion, there is really nothing attractive about this place other than that 1 for 1 deal. It does have a pool table which I suppose is their idea of entertainment, but the TV reception isn’t always good and the bartender provides bad service and isn’t very professional either.

Handburgers OK Sep 19, 2011
Categories : American | Restaurant | Burgers and Sandwiches

We tried to types of burgers @ The Hand Burger - the hand burger original (see picture) and stuffed portobello burger. The former cost $13.80 and the latter $14.80. The original handburger is so much more worth it than the portobello one. The original burger had a thick juicy patty and a nice blob of jam on top. It may not be the best burger i've ever had, but its close to it. The portobello one was terrible. The mushroom was so big and rubbery that its hard to cut it, i had to resort to trying to use my teeth to bite into it, resulting in many unglam attempts. The sauce was also very bitter, making it very difficult to finish the burger. The breads were all very nice because they're light and crispy.

As for the restaurant, its rather squeezy and you could end up sitting very close to the stranger next to you. On the up side, food is served very fast and cleared very fast also, so turnover rate is rather high and you wouldn't have to worry about waiting very long if you're outside in the que.

Recommended Dish(es):  The handburger original

Spending per head: Approximately $15(Dinner)

Ichiban @ AMK hub Smile Sep 19, 2011

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

We tried the Chicken curry cheese set at ichiban. Chicken curry cheese is basically a hot plate dish made up of fried chicken swimming in thick curry gravy with carrots and a slice of cheese ontop. When served, the gravy is already boiling hot, but the fire is still lit so that your cheese can melt. I suggest not stiring the melted cheese in because it tastes better that way. Once the cheese is melted, you should blow out the fire (takes a few tries) to avoid having smoke in your face. The set consists of miso soup, rice, tempura and2 small pieces of watermelon. Overall i think the curry version is nicer than the chicken curry. The chicken somehow still manages to retain its crispiness, which is great!

And also because theres a promotion for Japanese Fish Cake ($4 for 4 pieces, takeaway), we bought all 4 different flavours of fish cake. The flavours are: Ebi, vegetable tempura, octopus and squid. I liked the ebi ones best. However, you should eat them soon after purchase as they don't taste as nice cold.
