Fig & Olive Cry Nov 24, 2011
Categories : Restaurant | Steaks and Grills

I went to Vivo City after project work tonight to have a dinner with my friends.

We went for a trial to Fig & Olive. I picked the table at the middle facing the bar. I ordered the Seafood Carbonara.

I am quite surprised that my soup and pasta came within 5 mins. However, that's just the beginning of my nightmare, soup is super salty and the pasta was not hot at all as if it is not being cooked. The sauce was just slight warmer than the pasta. Apparently, these are precooked and put aside for a long time. Well, to me, that's fine as I know a lot of shop and hawker center stall will do that BUT before they serve these to customer, they will re-heat the pasta with the sauce and have it stir fry in the fried-pan.

It really does not worth my penny.

Indo Cafe Es Teler Smile Nov 23, 2011
Categories : Indonesian

Finally, I successfully persuaded my friend to try this Indonesian special dessert called "Es Teler". If it is translated it will become "Unconcious Ice" lol. I know that it does not make sense at all. Cendol adds up to the milk and many other ingredients such as "tape" and so on.

However, at a reasonable price, it tastes pretty nice and quench my thirst even though it is just a dessert. Maybe it was due to the extremely hot weather in Singapore.

Hongkong Cafe OK Nov 23, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

I ordered the papaya noodles soup dish and peach milk tea. According to what i know it is sort of a common dish in HK.
Expecting something delicious to fill my stomach but actually disappointed. The soup was horrible and tasteless with floating papaya, corn that is only a small portion, noodles and pork i think. A few scoops of the dish i was completely turned off.

At the second Xin Wang, couldn't remember which branch it was, i ordered porkribs with noodles. Again, the same horrific taste engulfs me. The pork ribs i believe is canned type of pork ribs. This goes to show how insincere the restaurant serves their food. Of all things canned pork ribs~ I believe diners are a discerning bunch. The noodles is dry and salty.

Also, the ambience is terrible. It is like one reviewer mentioned, a wet market. The noise level was so loud that i couldn't even hear what my friend was saying.

Another Pasta LOL OK Nov 23, 2011
Categories : Japanese

My friends and I ordered :

Teriyaki Chicken Cheese Burger - Huge portion, with egg, tastes teriyaki enough, but I find the chicken a little tough. Somewhat frozen feel. The cheapest of the 3 at S$8.80

Tonkatsu Curry Omu Rice - Again, huge portion, curry taste salty, rice was good, but the tonkatsu is tough and tastes frozen. Disappointing. S$14.80

Hakodate Seafood Cheese Pizza - The best of the three. Thin sliced, tasty and looks fresh. At S$12.80, we thought it's decently good.

It's a tight place we were at, but no complaints in this aspect, as the crowd certainly feel this is part of the dining experience - tight and youthful.

Should I return, I'd probably select their pasta dishes, and maybe the Hakodate Seafood Cheese Pizza.

Bubble Tea as An Art? OK Nov 23, 2011
Categories : Café | Juices

I'm a fan of bubble milk tea, so I have never tried Artease whenever I pass by. Finally got to try it as it was very late and there isn't any other bubble tea shops available nearby.

My girlfriend had Strawberry Milk Green Tea since both flavors are her favorite. I was hoping for something like Matcha green tea, rather than then normal tea bag ones.

And I had a Chocolate Rose Tea, can't really taste the flavor of the rose though but the taste of chocolate was just right.
