My dad's a vegetarian, so when we usually dine out tgt as a family on Sundays (his only off-day every wk), it would be vegetarian food for both lunch & dinner. Normally my mum would cook, but sometimes we would just eat out if we were in a hurry or my mum didnt feel like cooking. Since we were ard the bukit batok area, I suggested gg to Hwa Jin Vegetarian Family Restaurant, which I had looked up in Google for vegetarian places to eat in Bukit Batok.

When my family reached there, the place was really crowded (dinnertime - peak hour). The servers were rushing ard serving food & we had to wait quite some time for a table. The menu was not as intensive as some other vegetarian eateries my family frequent, but enough to let us ponder what we shld order. The waiting time for the food was abt 20mins, considered quite fast seeing the crowd of ppl there.

We ordered stir-fried sweet potato leaves, lemon mock chicken (their specialty), hotplate egg foo yong & lastly their tofu & seaweed soup.

Their sweet potato leaves was okay, but it was abit 'burnt' - the fire was too big while frying the veg.

Their lemon chicken, was the BEST vegetarian lemon chicken i have ever eaten! Thumbs up! It's a MUST TRY if u ever come here!

The soup was okay while the hotplate egg foo yong was so-so only (didnt take the photo as the server mixed up the egg which make it quite ugly).

Overall, satisfied with my meal & will patronise agn (to come & have their mock lemon chicken agn)! Their prices are also really reasonable, only a total of $25.50 for 5pax! Their dishes for small size in only $5 for most dishes, which is cheaper than many vegetarian outlets too!

P.S: Do try to take public transport if possible, the parking lots although are plentiful, they are almost alwys full & have to wait for some time for a parking space.

Great Fast Food! Smile Sep 16, 2011

Was at Singapore Expo attending a 3 day seminar, and as it starts at 8am, I didn't have time for my breakfast. Halfway through the seminar, I couldn't take it anymore as I was too hungry, so decided to sneak out for a bite. I thought about my sis who told me she had tried Texas Chicken & it was really nice, so I decided to give it a try.

There wasn't alot of people in the fast food restaurant, and so I didnt have to queue very long for my order. Order a set which came with 2 pieces of chicken, a mash potato, and a soft drink. For my chicken, I got a spicy & a non-spicy one, while I got a Sprite for my drink. Shared the set with my brother as it was too much for me (hehe, i have a super small appetite).

I really loved their mash potato, felt it tasted just rite (was not too salty/bland like some from other fast food restaurants). The chicken meat were really tender, and the skin was nice & crispy. The only thing was that the chicken was really oily, but this is common for many fried food bought from fast food restaurants. Really satisfied with my meal, & i will surely eat at Texas Chicken again! smile

Pizzalicious! :) Smile Sep 02, 2011

Categories : Pasta | Halal

I love going to pizza hut, bcos im addicted to their curry zazzle baked rice! tongue So when my mum suggested eating out, I immediately told her to go pizza hut for dinner. The pizza hut at Lot 1 was often full during dinnertime, so my mum went down to reserve a table 1st, but we still had to wait a gd 20mins before we got our table.

I was about to order my favourite curry zazzle baked rice when my mum said that I should try other stuffs (so okay lo..). I ordered their prawn aglio olio, grilled chicken parchment, & of course not forgetting pizza (come pizza hut of course must eat pizza! tongue)!

Ordered a total of 3 pizzas, Veggie Lover's Stuffed Crust Pizza, Hawaiian Regular Pan Pizza & lastly the Crispy Thin Crust Shroom Delite Pizza (Hehe, all 3 types of crust)! The pizzas are nice, but it would be even better if they could watch the oven better, 2 of the pizzas came with burnt bits at the side (bottom was also abit charred). The prawn aglio olio is delicious but quite oily, though it uses olive oil, still.. oil is oil. So when ordering this you might want to remind the waiter/waitress that you prefer less oil. I didn't like their grilled chicken parchment as much, even though it the menu listed it as their specialty pasta.

Still, i enjoyed my dinner at Pizza Hut, as always.

One thing to note though - The waiters & waitress are really busy & food takes quite a while to be served (but cant blame them since there's alot of people). smile

Cookie Crumble from Starbucks Smile Apr 29, 2012

Categories : American | Coffee

Was chilling out with my friends and as they wish to have a drink, so we decided to drop by Starbucks at 313 Somerset.

My friends ordered hot chocolate, green tea mocha (I think), while I ordered Cookie Crumble. I dun usually go Starbucks, so Im not very familiar with their names. Ordered Cookie Crumble just bcos I saw it on Starbuck's board, and it looked super delicious. tongue

It was $6.90, and my friend told me it was 1-for-1 before 7pm. Oh well, we went at 9pm, so it wasnt applicable. mad Nevertheless, I was really happy with my purchase! smile

I could select whether I prefer whipping cream on top (though I said no), and there was Chocolate cookie crumbs on top of the beverage. It was heavenly, and taste really like cookies. It was like I was drinking cookies! smile It was really delicious and something I can't describe until you try it yourself! Chocolatey and makes you craving for more!

Overall, the best drink I had from Starbucks! Heard it's new, so hopefully they dun remove it from their menu. smile I'll certainly go back for more soon! lol

Bdae Cake From Swensens! Smile Mar 15, 2012

Categories : Restaurant | Ice Cream and Gelato | Pasta | Steaks and Grills

It was my little sister bdae and I decided to surprise her by ordering an ice-cream cake from Swensens, which is to be delivered on the day itself. When the cake came, it was put into a Styrofoam box with dry ice inside. I was afraid it would melt so I pestered my dad to bring out the cake, but as we had not eaten our dinner, my dad refused and said that it would not melt at all. Luckily, it turned out that he was right, when he took out the cake 4hrs later (there was a note on the box stating that the cake shld not be left for more than 3hrs as it would melt), the cake was still frozen solid. It was really difficult cutting the cake, even after using the knife my mum alwys used in the kitchen. In the end, we could only get spoons to dig the cake to eat as it was just too hard to cut.

The cake was really nice, with ice cream in between thin layers of sponge cake. There were 3 flavours of ice cream in it in total; vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. The nicest flavour was chocolate (of cos, since it was my favourite). The cake was soft, and eating the whole thing makes ur teeth shiver.

One tip: Eat all 3 flavours tgt with the cake, its the perfect combination, delicious! smile

Overall, a really nice to eat cake. Will purchase again next time.
