Good Thai Fast Food OK Dec 22, 2013

It was a weekday dinner but the place is pretty full! Yet we were shown to a table rather quickly so that was great!

1) Phad Thai - not bad though I found it a tad sweet. Dunno if my tongue was going crazy.

2) Fish Porridge - it's essentially flavourful soup poured over rice. The combination is not bad as my kid devoured it!

3) Tom Yam Fish Vermicelli in Red Soup - my favourite choice as the spicy red soup with fish chunks goes beautifully with the Tanghoon. It's a big bowl so be hungry!

4) Olive Rice - hubby's favourite option. It's nice.

5) Tom Yam Seafood Horfun - my help's favourite choice and it'll be yours too if you fancy wok-Hei fried horfun and Tom yam anything. It's a good combo of both.

Thai Express is a classy fast food restaurant which decent food and reasonable pricing. Only problem I have is the amount if MSG used and I often find myself downing much water after the meal. But it's after all fast food so can't really complain.

Cozy Corner Comfort Smile Dec 19, 2013

Enjoyed a slow dinner by myself and ordered my usual choice - seafood linguine. The menu said "with a touch of spice" so I asked for more spice in mine.

Food came relatively fast and still piping hot. Good! Their version has cherry tomatoes in it so there's a sweetness yet tanginess blend. Nice. Seafood is also fresh so that's good. Unfortunately, my 'spicier' request was not spicy at all! Would have enjoyed it more if it's spicer I reckon.

All in all a good meal and would return again. smile

Worth a Try OK Dec 19, 2013

Sister-in-law (SIL) had a craving for their fried rice so I went down to buy for her. For ourselves, we also ordered:
1) Ginger Fish Slice with rice - the sauce turned out to be a little too sweet for my liking and a little overpowering. It's not bad, just not great lah.

2) Beef Fried Rice - SIL said their normal fried rice is better as the beef slices were a tad too tough. Darn...

3) San Lao Horfun - the wok-Hei of this dish is very evident and very flavourful indeed!! I love this most of all the items. It's really good, so good that I'll return to the shop JUST for this dish.

Considering the Coffeeshop is in HV, I didn't give it much credit. I assume the main clientele would be tourists or Ang-mohs so food can't be that good. Well, I was wrong. In fact, on the day I bought the food, the clientele consisted of mainly locals! Interesting!

After 2 Mexican BDay meals, hub is happy to eat his next favourite cuisine - Pizza.

We decided on Pietro as we are up north anyway and being hungry, we went overboard with the ordering (again). We had:
1) Fried Calamari - the rings are are done well, crispy crust but the squid is a tad rubbery. The accompanying tomato sauce is very good!

2) Baked Seafood Linguine - I asked for spicy version and I must say I like it! They're generous with their ingredients and its fresh. I scooped up every bit of sauce as I finished my portion

3) BBQ Ribs - the sauce was a tad too sweet for me preference but meat is tender. If you like sweet, you'll love this one.

4) Roasted Pork Belly - it's fancy shio-Bak with Ang Mo sauce. Nice but nothing too special.

5) Pizzas - we had 2 and I forgot the names! But it's meaty and tasty. Hubby felt that they were normal nice but still lose out to Pepperoni's distinct flavours.

All in all a good place to come for food. Not necessarily the best place for pizzas or pasta but good enough.

As Mexican as it get... Smile Oct 21, 2013

My hub loves Mexican cuisine and its tough to find places that serve decent burritos and tacos. So when I read that this place serves pretty good stuff, must treat Hub to meal.

We were very excited about the options, reminded us of the signboard when we ate at Mission, SF. We ordered almost everything because we couldn't decide:
1) Cheese Nachos - this is delightful as nachos and melted cheese really works. Topped with tomato bits, guacamole sauce and sour cream, very very delightful.

2) Fajitas - I opted for the pork version and it comes with 4 steaming soft tacos and a platter of pulled pork and rice. My daughter was happily DIY-ing her own dinner.

3) Quesadiya - my kids love the cheese version. I also ordered the fish (Mahi Mahi) version but it was not too pleasant. Will stick to cheese one next time

4) Chicken Burrito - first of all...it's massive! And I love the size. Taste-wise, it's actually quite good. One of the better ones I've tasted in Singapore.

And after 6 beers and many drinks, we were still unable to finish our food! Had to roll out eventually. Hub love it here!!!
