Flavoured Ice Smile Mar 14, 2014

Best friend and I stumbled into this place as we were full from dinner but wanted something sweet that not off a can.

We were surprised by the crowd that's inside the shop and honestly from the outside, you can't tell that it's jam packed inside!

We peeped at other tables and many ordered their Shaved Ice in the various flavours and we followed. We got an Almond Shaved Ice and we also wanted a traditional hot almond milk cream.

We were fascinated with the PILE of Shaved Ice and what I appreciated is that the ice itself had the almond flavour. So it's not a stack of ice with the syrup poured over. The ice was shaved in a wonderful fashion that looked very artistic really.

The warm almond milk was tasty and creamy. Not disappointing at all.

We left very much fuller then when we entered but super satisfied! We will definitely return.

One of the Best! Smile Mar 13, 2014

Categories : Teochew | Coffeeshop | Noodles

Even before ordering, I was informed that the wait would be 20 mins. Darn...

So I ordered the $5 portion to make my wait worthwhile. Not realizing that the $5 bowl comes with abalone slices. I should have just asked for more noodles and normal ingredients (note to self).

The wait wasn't really 20mins so that's good. Let's get down to talking about the noodles...

Chilli sauce - very good! I dunno how to describe the goodness but it's good! The Chilli and vinegar combi rocks!

Ingredients - it's enough for the portion of noodles. Liver is not overcooked and the other pork slices are also tender. They also have these bits of grilled cuttlefish that really enhances the taste. Another taste enhancer was the bits of pork lard! Generous crispy bits tossed in that makes every mouthful a delight! Yumz!!!

Soup - one of the ways to steal my heart is a savory soup base and yes, theirs is really good too! So good that I went back for seconds.

Would I return? Oh Yah!!!

Fresh Crab Smile Mar 13, 2014

Categories : Seafood

Honestly the food here is good. Of course it's not cheap but not crazy-Jumbo prices either. The items that we're oh-so-good were:
1) Crab in Broth - we paid for extra Beehoon and soup and it's super worth it! The broth was thick with favour and the crab, tho not huge, was fresh. The flesh came apart nicely  and easily. Indication of freshness to me. Easily best dish of the night.

2) Guinness Pork Ribs - very well marinated ribs with excellent taste. Doesn't taste like Guinness at all. Very very tasty dish.

3) Broccoli with Beancurd Skin & Mushrooms - it's essentially a very simple dish but don't very very nice!

4) Creamy Butter prawns - it's really prawn in thick salted eggs sauce. What's NOT to like?! Large fresh prawns in savory sauce! Makes you wanna scoop up all that sauce after you're done with the prawns.

Other dishes are decent but the above of special mention worthy.

Will be back again. smile

Great Place with Food to match Smile Mar 13, 2014

Wow!!!

First off, the mushroom soup is awesome!! Very flavourful and totally not out from a can! I can drink a gallon of this!!!

Salmon was an ok size and nicely grilled. Can taste the crispy-ness to it! Nice!

Mushroom Ragout is also well cooked. Savory and mushroom had that right bite to it!

Mash is tasty but a little fluffy I guess. I supposed I like my mash heavy with butter and everything unhealthy. This mash is light but still tasty!

Hubby's steak is also ok in size and in taste. Not bad but not OMG. May order something else the next time.

Scrambled Eggs are ok, a little too runny and bland according to hubby. He claims he makes better ones. Heh...

Lunch was rounded up with a Coffee Hazelnut Cake. It's very light! Can taste the coffee and hazelnut. Not bad at all. I'm not into coffee hazelnut dessert but it's decent.

We'll definitely be back!

Tasty Duck Indeed Smile Jan 20, 2014
Categories : Hawker Centre

They have one big round table that was good for my whole family. We order a mix-mess of stuff to share:
1) Braised Duck - good size serving, it looked like half duck and it's mostly boneless! Tasty and tender slices. Good!

2) Kuay Chap Platter - it's a nice spread of everything. Not bad tasting too.

3) Oyster Sauce Vege - average good.

4) Porridge - this is the one that I love. It's a thick goo of smooth porridge where they'll top a layer of their braised sauce over. The effect is a flavourful bowl of goodness I can happily eat in its own.

If anything at all, it's the porridge that will make me a willing return customer. As price-wise, it's not the cheapest meal around but with duck and Kuay chap options, it's always a little on the high side. Having said that, it's not ridiculously priced either. You need to check it out for yourself.
