Walked past this open-air Coffeeshop restaurant a couple of times and decided to dine here with the family on tow.

We ordered:

1) Lamb Shank (~$19) - I judge by whether the meat has funny smell and the texture of meat. It's beautifully grilled and tender to chew. Only pity there's not enough for me!! They plate 4 pieces on a home-made potato crust and seasonal vegetables. The vegetables were well marinated and sauté too. The potato crust thingie is a little weird for me. No like. But as a whole-SUPER LIKE!

2) Tenderloin (~$17) - hubby loves meat so he order one steak with pepper sauce. Meat is generally tender so that's great. I asked him to compare to Aston's and he said that Aston's serving seemed to be bigger, taste-wise, about the same.

3) Grilled Chicken and fillet combo (~$18) - I found the fish fresh and generous in serving. Chicken was ok too. Nothing spectacular but no bad.

We only order one set so we had corn and potato soup to start. The soup was home-made and has bits of corn and potato in it. Very nice. Dessert was bread pudding and it was quite good too!!! As we stay in TP, very likely we'll pop by every now and then to try their other dishes.

Nice but $$$!!! OK Oct 09, 2012

I've heard rave reviews about the Peranakan cuisine served here and decided to bring some friends to check the place out together.

We ordered quite a few dishes and the taste is actually all good. The only problem for me is the price of things. The dishes tho tasty, it's serving is small. Thus, we had to order a lot of items. We ordered Daisy's Ngoh Hiang ($8), Babi Buah Keluak ($10), Black-Ink Sotong ($12) and Prawn Petai ($8) to list a few...

Another downer was the price of rice. It's at $1 a bowl and it's a pretty small bowl! Not the big mound of rice given in Zichar places at all. So the 7 adults and 2 kids paid $14 just for rice! In total, we paid about $30 for a meal that my husband and I were not exactly very full from.

The owners and staff are friendly and attentive but I don't think I'll return unless it's a treat. Not quite worth it's weight in gold for me.

Heard good reviews about the pizzas here from friends and decided to check this joint out for ourselves.

As we had quite a few people feasting together, good thing is the ability to try a little of a few dishes.

1) Earl's Grey Pizza - not bad tasting. Taste nothing like the tea tho. Strange name association.

2) Squid Ink Panella - a pan full of blackish rice is not exactly nice looking but it tasted pretty darn good!!

In general, the other pizzas I tried (but forgot names) were all not bad. However, I'm still a sucker for thin crust pizza, not thin until like wafer biscuit, that's just not right. tongue

A church friend recommended this place for our dinner to round off a wonderful weekend serving at church. We reserved a large table for the 11 of us and proceeded to order:

1) Pork Satay $21.60 - this is surprising good. Meat is tender and the little fatty bits makes the whole mouth experience so much more explosively wonderful. Hee...

2) Kung-bao Chicken $14 - a little like black pepper taste. But all good.

3) Garlic Naibai $12 - Generous with tgeir garlic and it's good tasting.

4) Salted Egg Squid $18 - the salted egg coating is solid! If they have deep-fried their squid first, i think it'll be even more awesome!

5) Fried Hokkien Mee $24 - they use seafood to stew their noodles in and that made their noodle very savory sweet! Love this!! Easily the STAR of the meal!!

6) Rib Eye Beef $56 - what is a Chinese seafood restaurant serving a western dish I have no idea but who cares? They did this medium-done version of beef fillet very very well. This is served with a side of wedges.

7) 'Heart-attack' Fried Rice - This dark sauced fried rice is salty and super delicious! How can it not be awesome when they use the fats of the beef to flavor the rice?!?!

8) Hotplate Tofu $15 - this is normal nice. Not bad.

The price is super reasonable and food tasty. Definitely bringing my family here again.

Actually Pretty Darn Good Smile Aug 18, 2012

The quality of food is actually good!!! I love the spread, especially the authentic dishes and some fusion style. They have the normal favorites like freshly cut Salmon, sushi pieces, tempura selections and Japanese noodles. I love their creative dessert selections...good selection and tasty.

Another plus point is that they change their buffet menu every month. That makes every buffet trip a different experience.

The third plus plus point is the price. Very affordable price for a very wonderful spread.
