Hi-Tea indeed Smile May 21, 2014

Very nice place to chill with girlfriends over premium tea and pastries.
The pretty bite-size pastries are pretty to look at and tasty to eat. If you are looking for the usual buffet spread, then you'll be disappointed. The drinks served are mainly tea so the term hi-tea here is aptly used.

Friends suggested lunch here to enjoy the good ambience and good food. I am impressed with the interior design of the cafe which gives out this relaxing vibe once you're inside.
Many reviews suggested a Hot Reuben so I'm not gonna ignore that.
Turned out that the sandwich was massive (for me at least) and my friend actually betted that I couldn't finish it by myself. So to prove him wrong (I'm a fighter), I ate slowly to savour and also to not overkill myself in the start of the meal. The sandwich was rich in flavour and I can't break it down to the individual tastes but it all came together very nicely.
I opted for the set and they had cauliflower soup then. It was smooth and good and flavourful! Nice!
The ambience was very chillaxing and a beautiful way to start the morning. The interior is clean and bright, plus it sure doesn't hurt to have the whole place smell of fresh bread to hit you (nicely) in the face as you walk in.
Will bring hubby here to share the beautiful experience.

Wow!!!

First off, the mushroom soup is awesome!! Very flavourful and totally not out from a can! I can drink a gallon of this!!!

Salmon was an ok size and nicely grilled. Can taste the crispy-ness to it! Nice!

Mushroom Ragout is also well cooked. Savory and mushroom had that right bite to it!

Mash is tasty but a little fluffy I guess. I supposed I like my mash heavy with butter and everything unhealthy. This mash is light but still tasty!

Hubby's steak is also ok in size and in taste. Not bad but not OMG. May order something else the next time.

Scrambled Eggs are ok, a little too runny and bland according to hubby. He claims he makes better ones. Heh...

Lunch was rounded up with a Coffee Hazelnut Cake. It's very light! Can taste the coffee and hazelnut. Not bad at all. I'm not into coffee hazelnut dessert but it's decent.

We'll definitely be back!

Goodie Oldie Smile Jul 20, 2013

Have been coming here for a good old local steamboat since I was a little kid. This place holds very fond memories for me and to me, the chicken rice and remains awesome for me. The steamboat was also very wholesome to drink. I used to down 4 to 5 bowls easily on top of 2 full bowls of rice. There's something about the food here are 'opens' my third stomach. Heh...

Today, my whole family came here for lunch and the chicken and rice still kicks butt, I found the soup base not as tasty somewhat. Dunno if it's because my tongue has gone slightly cuckoo, or maybe my brains just remember the 'good old times' to be always so much better?

I would still need to go there once in a whole for my steamboat chicken rice fix. smile

Heard good reviews about the pizzas here from friends and decided to check this joint out for ourselves.

As we had quite a few people feasting together, good thing is the ability to try a little of a few dishes.

1) Earl's Grey Pizza - not bad tasting. Taste nothing like the tea tho. Strange name association.

2) Squid Ink Panella - a pan full of blackish rice is not exactly nice looking but it tasted pretty darn good!!

In general, the other pizzas I tried (but forgot names) were all not bad. However, I'm still a sucker for thin crust pizza, not thin until like wafer biscuit, that's just not right. tongue
