The title of my entry says it all! Lao Ban Soya Bean curd, where have you been all my life? I've been scouting near and far for something as good as this. Wanted to start the year off by eating healthy and to find something that is not just nutritious but yummy too is indeed a marvel. My sister first discovered it after a few of her friends were raving about it. She then bought me a tub. Expecting pure bluntness, I took a small spoonful and my taste buds were tantalized.

The bean curd was so soft and smooth. It almost tasted like you could "drink" it since each bite practically melts in your mouth. This is one place you can expect to find a queue just for bean curd and also be prepared to ignite your senses.

Portion wise, probably slightly smaller than places like Mr Bean and Jollibean among others. However, at $1.50, I still think its worth every bowl. The bowl, by the way is microwaveable. Lao Ban Soya Bean curd leaves it up to the individual to have it warm (with its microwaveable bowls!) or chilled (the way its served).

Staff are very friendly as well and especially in the evenings, they are prepared with bean curds in bags so as to make your queue shorter! very efficient smile

I am looking forward to trying their soya bean milk next!!!!!!!!

I stay in the north but I would not mind making a trip down just for this!!

A little advice? Please buy more than one bowl! It's that good smile

Crazy about Yam Smile Dec 25, 2012

One of my favorite finger foods from Old Chang Kee would have to be their delicious yam pie's. They are extremely crispy and I must say not the healthiest with all the oil that gets absorbed by the paper bag. However, they taste fantastic. They are wrapped like a spring roll layer and filled generously with yam. I have never been a huge fann of yam but this yam pie definitely got to me and ended up being my weekly treat to old change kee.

rockey masters iced chocolate  Dec 25, 2012

Rocky Masters has got to be one of my favorite cafe's. I especially love this outlet where its usually quiet which makes it perfect for reading or just a cup of coffee and people watching. I am a big fann of desserts and I must say, the desserts and beverages are beyond exceptional.

This time round, I decided to try the Margarita Pizza which consisted of a thin pizza base with an overwhelming amount of chedder cheese and juicy tomatoes. It tasted really good and was really filling.

Another must try is their delicious Iced Chocolate (Vouch that its way better then any cafe including starbucks & coffee bean). The iced chocolate is really rich and worth every penny (price increased since the last time I was here tongue)

Overall, I loved it. This place is perfect for a quiet date and is in a place at orchard away from crowds smile

soft buns! Smile Dec 25, 2012

I just the love the buns for bread talk as they smell so overpowering even when you're a few shops away and gives a very inviting feel. This time, I went for the Smart Alec (if only it did make one smarter after consumption!). It is however, a healthier option. It consists of a very soft long bun with a generous filling of custard right in the middle. It was not too sweet and tasted pretty much awesome. It was also topped off with icing sugar which gave it an edge.

At only $1.40, this was reasonable smile

yummy noodle soup! Smile Dec 25, 2012

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

I decided to visit once again as I was feeling under the weather and crystal jade's vegetarian noodle soup never fails to make me feel better. I love the broth that was used with these noodles as there were so flavorsome. I like the idea that the noodles are not undercooked or overcooked which would have made them too soggy. The noodles were just right and the serving of vegetables, mushrooms and beancurd was generous. I love how huge the serving is and one would be full to the brim just with this dish alone! smile Absolutely delicious; the perfect comfort food! smile
