Quaint little cafe @ Star Vista Smile Oct 05, 2012

After dinner my boyfriend and I were looking for a place to chill that also serve desserts. We chance upon Jamaica Blue and decided to try it.

The Mango Cake ($6.90) was a real winner. The whole middle of the cake was made of mango and it tasted as good as mango pudding. There were real bits of mango in it!

On top of that, we ordered a iced long back coffee ($5.60)

Great place to chill out.

Had to ask for a napkin because they weren't provided. Bit of an hassle.

Headed down to Ikea Cafe at Alexandra Road for lunch with my sister. This is really a affordable alternative to hawker centers in the sweltering heat. I choose a slice of vegetarian pizza ($1.50) and a plate of rice with vegetables and 2 pieces of fried chicken thigh ($3.90).

I love eating the vegetarian pizza because it's really yummy and is not overloaded with cheese (something that I really dislike). The rice set was really worth the money because there was generous portions of fried chicken thigh. The chicken thigh was crispy yet moist on the inside, it hadn't been over-fried to the point it got dried up.

Yummy ice cream for my tummy :D Smile Oct 04, 2012

My friend and I headed over to Cold Stone Creamery for dessert because it was one of the few places that was still opened after having dinner at Antoinette. Each of us ordered a scoop of ice cream (4oz) with a dipped waffle. I had the chocolate devotion flavour with a dipped cone.

The brownie bits in chocolate devotion. Nothing makes me happier than brownie bits in chocolate ice cream! They were generous with the brownie bits.

Dislikes
-Not enough seats even on a weekday night. My friend and I had to stand around and wait for seats.
-The chocolate dipped waffle paired with a dipped waffle was too much for me, both my friend and I got sick of it after awhile. And had mild sore throats. I'll be getting a plain waffle with a chocolate flavour next time!

Spending: $7 for a 4oz scoop with a dipped cone

Girls' Night out at Antoinette Smile Oct 04, 2012

It was mid-week and stressed from school deadlines, I headed to Antoinette with a close girlfriend for dinner. I love the decor of the outlet at Mandarin Gallery. It was very posh and the seats were super comfy, I had space to slip my laptop in beside me on the same chair. I ordered toast with smoked duck breast and an additional scrambled egg ($18) while my friend ordered the prawn crumble pasta ($26). The duck breast was quite soft and not too chewy. I really love the toast and scrambled egg though. The toast was crunchy yet soft in the middle and had a nice sweet taste while the scrambled eggs just had the right amount of milk in it.

My friend's pasta had a good number of prawns (6-8 prawns), she had so many she couldn't finish it and had to pass so me to me haha. They were very well-seasoned. Overall, I had a fairly good impression of Antoinette. A little pricey but I will definitely be going back to try other dishes.

Great Ramen! Smile Oct 02, 2012

Headed down to Santouka with a close friend of mine to try the ramen. I've heard raving reviews about this place and had high expectations. Fortunately, they were met. The ramen noodles were springy and the broth was full of flavour. I particularly enjoyed the cha siu because it was soft and had just the right amount of fat.

The chawanmushi was also one of the yummiest I've ever had, would definitely recommend the chawanmushi for anyone who ever eats at Santouka.

- Being able to order the ramen in small, medium or large bowls (good for a small eater who can't finish standard meal sizes)
