not very value for money OK Jun 21, 2013

I was surprised by how expensive the curry chicken is at wang cafe. They have this promotion, a bowl of curry chicken, choice of rice or bread and a drink for $7. I knew it was pretty expensive when I ordered but i thought the portion of the curry chicken would be large so i went ahead and ordered. to my surprise, when they served my order, there was only one "skinny" chicken drumstick and three potato slices. it was pretty miserable. i thought the price will be exponential to the portion of chicken. the curry was pretty thick and tasty but i feel this promotion is not very value for money.

Spending per head: Approximately $7(Dinner)

To escape the awful haze, i decided to head to Lot One Shoppers' Mall for tea with my mother. The first thing we saw when we entered the mall was Ya Kun Kaya Toast and we knew that is just the right place for an afternoon tea. I ordered the french toast with kaya. i know it is not as value for money as compared to their toast, but my love for french toast overcame the dilemma.

Their french toast is so fragrant. you can taste the egg that coat their brown bread. the french toast only has a tinge of sweetness, but when dipped with the sweet kaya, it taste just right. i think this makes an excellent afternoon tea!

Spending per head: Approximately $2(Tea)

BBQ chicken OK Jun 17, 2013

today is not a good day to go to Manna Story, cos probably it is father's day and there were many families eating out. we waiting pretty long just to be seated. even though there were empty tables in the restaurant, the staffs were just too busy to even come out to sit us down. this could be due to a lack of staff. when we were finally seated, the staffs were too busy to serve us our side dishes. our main dishes had came first before we asked the staff about the side dish. even though the side dishes were free flow, the side dish counter was practically empty and the staffs did not refill it.

i ordered the BBQ chicken, it appeared like those you find in food courts but only at a more expensive price. the chicken meat was well marinated, very tender. it was not too salty and went well with rice. as a whole i was pretty satisfied.

Ever since i drank the bak kut teh from Malaysia Boleh, i have been craving for it non stop. their bak kut teh is somewhat different from the ones we have in Singapore. the soup is pretty dark in colour, the herb flavour is much more stronger. for those who do not fancy herb taste may find the taste a little overpowering. the meat is boiled till super tender, it is easily taken out from the bone. as a whole i found this one of the nicer ones i have ever eaten.

I met a friend for breakfast at starbucks, we ordered the mushroom pastry each. i must say this is one of the best mushroom pastry i have every eaten. the pastry has a light tinge of buttery fragrance. it was really crispy. when you cut into it, it completely flakes and crumbles. the mushroom filling is seasoned perfectly. the mushroom tasted well sauteed. the portion is pretty large, makes a very hearty breakfast.

Spending per head: Approximately $11(Breakfast)
