Fantastic Food, Nice Ambience Smile Jul 30, 2014

We came here for lunch and there was not much crowd. No wonder this restaurant has rave reviews. The food is so tasty.

We ordered the mini portion of aglio olio (turned out very small!), tomato bruschetta, ravioli, and avocado torte for the dessert.

The tomato bruschetta was very nice. I really like the balance of the flavours and it had different layers of taste; sweet, salty, and sour on the first bite and the fragrant taste from the olive oil kicked in. The baguette was toasted very well too, it was crunchy and soft.

The aglio olio was unlike the normal, boring one, but it was tossed in chili oil and fragrant garlic slices and mixed with some kind of soy sauce. This dish is definitely a must-try! I regret that I ordered the mini one and not the full portion.

There's nothing much to comment about the ravioli. It's pretty decent, but nothing special about it.

The Torte with Avocado Gelato was kinda disappointing. They so-called 'torte' is nothing but a thin layer of dense cake at the bottom. Alas! The gelato wasn't nice either. It was just like eating whipped cream with bland frozen ice. Definitely needs some improvements.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the food and the service of this restaurant. I will definitely come back for more!

Lousy service, bad food Cry Jul 30, 2014

I came here with a group of friends during the lunch hours on Saturday. We ordered "Finger-O-Fish" and "Sausage and Fries Fest".

I was appalled by their lousy service. When we asked how long more we had to wait, the waiter replied "Sorry, we're preparing your order as we have a lot of orders from the other table." Shouldn't you add more kitchen staff during peak hours to solve this problem rather than giving those excuses to your customers? We waited one good hour for the food (yes, one hour!). And when I asked a teaspoon to stir my latte, the waiter replied "Don't you have it on the plate?" I was like "Duh!" If I had it, I wouldn't have asked you for it, right?

When the food was served, it looked nice. But I was wrong. It tasted horrible. The fish burger patty was dry, bland. The truffle fries was cooked in a burnt oil leaving bitter taste on my mouth.

The sausage platter wasn't any different. We were overwhelmed by the saltiness of the curly fries. Definitely wouldn't come back here!

Casual Korean Dining Restaurant OK Jul 30, 2014

Categories : Korean | Restaurant

Although Seoul Yummy is not the best Korean restaurant in town, it certainly has loyal fans as it's always crowded. Perhaps because of their centralized locations and Korean theme interior, most of the patrons are teenagers and young adults.

We ordered  Army's Stew (Buddae Jjigae) for two pax which included the stew, two rice, dessert and two drinks. It was served with beef, pork, tofu, tteokbokki, mushrooms and noodles. The kimchi-based broth wasn't as original as those in Korea. I've been here on couple of occassions and I find that the food was mediocre. But if you crave for Korean food and can't get the best one, you might want to settle for the second or even third best.

As for the dessert, we chose Yogurt with Jellies. This dessert was amazing! The soft serve yogurt was accompanied with jellies, mango, and kiwi slices, on top of shaved ice. Love the balance between the sour yogurt and the sweet jellies.

Value for money set lunch Smile Jul 30, 2014

Categories : Japanese | Ramen

I was expecting a long queue since it's a new establishment but there were only few people ahead of us.

We ordered their set lunch menu which included mini ramen, side dish, and dessert.
For the ramen, we chose Chabuton Shio Ramen and Chabuton Signature Tonkotsu Ramen.

I personally think that their Shio ramen broth was tastier than their signature tonkotsu ramen. The broth was light and not oily. The noodle was cooked nicely, not too soft and not too hard.

For the side dish, you can choose between tori kaarage, gyoza, and potato croquette. The dish we ordered were gyoza and croquette. They were pretty tasty.
For the dessert

One thing I need to compliment was their wonderful service. The servers were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. It's something we seldom see in Singapore. Kudos!

Bland Soup but Awesome Toppings OK Jul 28, 2014

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

Bye bye MOS burger... Hi SIFU! This newly opened restaurant serves Cantonese dishes.

The dish I ordered was rice noodles topped with fish cakes and the other one was topped with prawn rolls.

There were two options to choose from; rice noodles and hor fun. The broth itself was bland but the fish cakes were pretty tasty. If you eat a lot, perhaps you should order more side dishes as the noodle portions were very small.

The must-try side dish were the prawn toasts. They were crispy and tasty.
A must-try!

A must-try!
