Categories : Hainanese | Chicken Rice

Being a typical Singaporean, I love my chicken rice. Not chicken rice in general but Hainanese Chicken Rice. The dish is simple; bite-sized pieces of steamed white chicken, fragrant rice, light or dark soy sauce, and a delicious ground chilli and ginger paste.

And to get my fix of the nation's favorite dish, i just have to head on to Hainanese Delicacy which is a stone throw away from my office. Unlike other Singaporeans, I dont like to que. So lunch hour, they're pretty packed and you could see a que of at least 10 pax by 12.30. So best is to order for a take-away.

I asked for white chicken with rice and additional braised egg which cost a 50 cents more. Which to me is reasonable. I would have guessed that they gave me half an egg but they gave me in full! The chilli.. ohhhh the chilli.. itss sooo soo sooo spicy and look how beautifully red it is.. makes it so tempting to lick it off which unfortunately caused my lips to be on fire! But it gives you the kick you need when you mix the soft tender chicken with the fragrant rice.
All in all cost me $4.50

Anyone who knows me, knows that there's no place in the world I would rather be but to be surrounded by books. And Epilogue Cafe is one of the few places that allows me to enjoy both ambiance and good food.

Located on the 4th floor of ION Orchard, its nicely hidden at the back of the popular book store, Prologue. You can easily miss it if you don't step in to the book store. Lucky for me that Epilogue Cafe is well hidden. Such warm and cosy cafe should be kept away from public! This is my fourth visit and I've not seen it full house.

Their menu offers a small selection of main course that ranges from Mac N Cheese to Lasagna. For those who wish for something lighter, they do serve salad and paninis too. They have a small counter filled with cakes, macarrons and even scones!

I had a pot of Chocolate Mint ($6), and the very american Mac N Cheese ($9+).

Macaroni and cheese is the perfect comfort food! Its creamy and light and not forgetting cheesy! Gooey Goodness. I am definitely coming back to Epilogue each time i crave for Mac N Cheese. I love how it left me not feeling over stuffed!

The mint in the Chocolate Mint makes it wonderfully refreshing while it is sweet like a dessert from the chocolate. I don't do tea actually but this is just an exception. Its smooth and just refreshes my throat. I could have this for hours and just be at home at this cafe.

This is the ideal place for those seeking solace away from the busy streets of Orchard during lunch time. Its quiet, cozy and if you spend more than $25 on a single receipt, you are entitled to grab a book off their shelves for free. Awesome no? smile

What a surprise Smile Jul 18, 2013

Categories : Malay | Singaporean | Coffeeshop | Chicken Rice

First thing I had after being away from Singapore for nearly 2 weeks! Chicken Rice. Usually I would get Chinese Hainanese Chicken Rice cause it's just better than Malay's version. But I was told that this is the best Malay Chicken Rice ever. So I took the advice.

The stall is located within a small coffeeshop. It was 12pm and there was already a queue. There were 2 makciks attending to the customers. You can see a huge pile of fried chicken stacking up along the window of their stall. It was a turn off for me actually. But nevertheless I was determined to give it a try.

For only $3, the chicken rice was goooood. The chicken was still hot and I love how crispy it is on the outside but juicy and tender on the inside.. was goood fried chicken people! The rice was generous too. Warm and fluffy. Perfect combo no? Warm fluffy rice with juicy tender chicken. Just perfection. Oh it was soo good I tell ya!

Oh yes.. Do remember to come earlyk, because they close early. I don't think they open during the fasting month too, just saying ;)

Categories : Indian | Coffeeshop | Halal

If you want something not really fulling but gives you a kick in the stomach especially on cold rainy night!

You would want to do this..Bring your butt to Saffron's @ Tampines.. Go up to the fella who takes the order.. tell him "Handsome, one prata kosong and prata with egg KUAH CAMPUR with sambal kay & a Teh Tarik"

Ask for take-away. Saffron's always crowded anyways! Their food is that good! Simple but the best in town.

So you get home and you will find your prata soaked with spicy fish curry and a generous serving of sambal on the side. Prata is beautifully deliciously wet and soaked and just makes it so much better to devour!! Their curry is spicy! I cant recall any prata shop with a spicy fish curry for prata.. This is just shiok! Damn shiok! Please wash it down with a warm teh tarik!! Simplicity at its best ;)

Okay I'm drooling! Shall get me another one now!

Hello Mango! Smile Jun 10, 2013

Earlier this month, Ding Tea came up with 3 more Mango flavored Milk Tea into their menu. I tried out their Mango Milk Tea with Pearls. I was actually expecting the drink to be in the normal milk tea colour but I was wrong. There seems to be more Mango than Milk Tea in that drink which was great. The pearls were soft and very chewy. Its sweet though, too sweet actually. Overall I enjoyed the drink. I dont usually finish my milk tea til the very drop unlike this drink. Im gonna try their Mango Yakult next. The drink is cheap if you ask me, $2.20 for a medium, while the large cost around $3.
