cheap eats! Smile May 29, 2013

Times are tough.. and times like these you are thankful for cheap eateries! if you dont wanna spend $5 bucks on a meal.. this is the place..

Isle Cafe not only has the mixed vegetable rice, they serves Laksa, fish soup noodles and more. They offer 10 over side dishes like fried kailan, steamed egg tofu, curry chicken or fried fish slices.

I will usually get a plate of rice with a side of tofu and the fried fis slicesh and it doesnt cost more than $3!!!
Its so so! Im not saying its really great! Im just saying that its good enough for my tummy and great savings for my pocket!

Wrap me up! Smile May 29, 2013

Categories : Indian | Coffeeshop | Curries

There's a couple of prata coffeeshops here in this area and Mr Prata is the better one to choose from. Their friendly service and helpful owners are simply pleasant for a coffeeshop!

This is one of the go to places when my family are just too darn lazy to cook. Our favorites here are the Chicken wraps, pizzas and yes their Briyani Rice.

Their briyani rice is fluffy and ohh the spices.. you just gotta loove the fragrant smell of it.. Im not saying its one of the best in Singapore.. But for me.. its one of the best in Tampines tongue ... Where can you find Chicken/Mutton Briyani Rice that comes with a Hard Boiled Egg? At first i was taken aback thinking that's a weird combo.. But hey! It works.. specially when you mix it with their achar... try it to believe it okay!

So that's my parent's favorite.. not mine..

Their Chicken Wrap is the best dish to have especially on a wet rainy day! For only $6 bucks.. you get a 7/8 inch toasted wrap full of shredded lettuce, carrots, tomatoes and sweeeet chicken meat covered with mayonnaise! Plus you get a side of thick cut fries! Okay... my mouth is watering now.. anyways.. The best deal you can ever get around here.. and its only $6.. sweet yo!

Sometimes to know how popular a cafe or any eatery for that matter, is by the no. of time you hear your friends or family mentioning about it, the reviews in OpenRice.. or just like any true blue singaporean.. the length of their ques.. Long q must be popular right? haha...

So since I was at the area, and seeing that their usual looong q seems to be short at that particular hour, I got their signature Croissant Almonds.

Loved it! Never had such crossaint thats is chewy! It is soft though and you can taste the layers of almond paste and a bit of rum! Its really on a class on its own. Although its pricier than any other crossaint, but trust me, @ $3.20 per piece, its really worth it.

Im definitely making return trips to this bakey. Im really excited to try on more of their pastry that they offer... next up is their Kouign Aman and Lemon Tart!

Another disappointment..  Cry Apr 30, 2013

Feeling Thai and we opted ThaiExpress.. Not the best choice we ever made.

The 3 of us were too hungry to be picky and since we were on a tight budget we chose their promotional set meal, 'Sanook Red Tom Yum Fish Soup'. It's only $8.90 and it comes with a plate of white rice, a piping hot Red Tom Yum Fish Soup, 3 Green Curry Chicken Basil Balls and lastly their Fragrant Coconut Milk Sago with Red Atap Seed.

Sounds a lot dont it? So it should be an attractive meal since its costing less than 10 bucks! But no.. it was just disappointing.. I cant taste any chicken in that green curry balls. It was bland! Their rice was too dry. I dont even wanna talk about the coconut milk sago.. it was warm and the texture, honestly just puts me off. Maybe if it was cold.. but nah.. i only take a few spoonfuls and i got put off instantly..

Should have sticked to something that was safe.. Their signature Pad Thai noodles..

Going green OK Apr 30, 2013

Categories : Salads/ Acai Bowl

So it was one of those days that I vowed to eat healthier from that moment on (but failed, as expected). And coincidentally I passed by Toss & Turn.

At Toss & Turn, you can expect basic salads paired with healthy grains like cous cous or brown rice. I was given a choice to either add on grilled chicken or their

deli meats to make it a full meal. Their staffs shared with me that their salad dressing are made from scratch in-house using healthier alternatives such as honey and fruit juices. Hmmm interesting..

And so as I head over to the bar, i customized my own salad.. For only $9 i chose a base, two deli items and two other regular side. The salad dressing is located at the self-service counter and it wasn't fantastic to me.

And since salad wont make my stomach stop growling, i ended my meal with a sweet note. I choose the Oreo Cheese cake which is not too sweet! I loike!
