Papaya milk soup noodles. OK Mar 09, 2011

Xin Wang Hong Kong Café is a chain hong kong cafe located basically island wide. Quite honestly, I have never been quite a fan of this chain neither would I say that the food is anywhere near fantastic.

It was due to the fact that the restaurant had no queue, tempting us to walk in and just get dinner over and done with, we were having trouble trying to aid our hunger pangs on a busy and late weekend night.

I decided on the papaya milk soup noodles with pork chop. I chose the wanton noodles. There were also corn on a cob, boiled papaya and a halved full-boiled egg in it. The soup was tasty and yummy which I basically drank them all. The noodles were alright. The pork meat however, was bland and hard, making it almost impossible for me to chew on them.

Staff service was slow and unfriendly too. I still have mixed feelings about this place, mostly of which, negative.

1-for-1 with DBS. Smile Mar 09, 2011

I was so hyped when I heard from my boyfriend that Hard Rock Cafe @ Resort World Sentosa is currently having a 1-for-1 main course with any DBS credit card, only applicable to the Entrees though, but I thought it was good enough.

We both had steak. I had the Pepper Steak and my boyfriend had the Open-Faced Sirloin Sandwich. Mine came with garden veggies and really damn smoking good mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were honestly the best I have tasted so far in my life, creamy, milky, delicious and not too mashed up.. you could still taste bits of boiled potatoes. The pepper steak was cooked medium just as requested, thick, juicy and succulent.

My boyfriend's Open-Faced Sirloin Sandwich came with french fries and salad. The sirloin strips were also cooked with caramel onions, mushrooms and cheese. They were really yummy too and of generous portion.

Ice-Cream. Smile Mar 08, 2011

Mr Bean is basically located everywhere, island-wide, some or perhaps most being franchisees. Mr Bean is a quick, cheap and convenient fix to any soya bean craving or to quench a thirst.

I love Mr Bean's basic cold soya milk, hot beancurd and soya milk ice-cream. Their ice-cream are priced at $1.50 for the cone and $1.80 to have it in a cup. It is tasty, milky and of low calories due to the main ingredient being soya milk, nutritious as well. A great dessert for weight watchers to add on to the end of a hearty lunch.

South Canteen is located at the southern side of Nanyang Poly, normally catering to the school of Engineering, IT, Life Sciences and Design. However my classmates and I would still take a walk over from the north occasionally.

The waffles sold at the drinks stall is a must-try. Prices start from $0.80 for the plain ones. It cost a dollar for an additional spread such as kaya, chocolate, peanut butter, butter and sugar, strawberry jam, blueberry jam, etc. Cheese spread or 2 flavors of spread in one waffle is also available for the price of $1.20.

This stall also sells ice-cream individually in a cone or cup. Only a dollar for a really really generous scoop. Flavors vary from mango to chocolate chip mint, chocolate chip, chocolate, raspberry ripple, vanilla and etc. It could be added to a plain waffle too.

Grill-Out! @ Sunset Way. Smile Mar 07, 2011

There was this promotion on an e-coupon website (http://www.alldealsasia.com/) and that caught our attention. It was a voucher for the set course at 40% off. The set course came with a Soup of The Day w/ bread and butter, a main course to choose from the options and a glass of mock tail. However there were some terms and conditions, one of which we had to arrive before 7pm. Available all 7 days week.

It took us some time to get there as we were unfamiliar with this area of the west side. Upon arrival, we liked the concept of the restaurant being in a hdb area, void deck. Along side, there were other cuisine restaurants as well.

The service was impeccable, the staff (a friendly and fatherly guy) made it a point to explain more of the dishes and refilled our water constantly. At the end of our meal, he also asked how was the food and if they needed improvement in any area.

The daily soup was mushroom which was pretty alright, not too much to my liking but my bf loved it. I had the sirloin steak while he had the grilled pork chop. The servings were generous, I couldn't finish mine but passed the rest to my bf. The steak was grilled perfectly, juicy, succulent and tender.. I guess the same applied to the pork chop. I'm not a fan of mock tails but i guess it was okay too.
