Buffet @ Sakura. OK Mar 30, 2011

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Halal | Buffet

People often have the conception of buffets being a great deal as you'd only have to pay for a certain price and then it's all-you-can-eat. That day, I was one of them too. My friends and I went ahead for the Sakura buffet. In there, they've got sushi, sashimi, the grill section, fried food, salads, desserts, cold drinks and coffee and more. Personally, I feel it isn't the best buffet around. The sashimi weren't very fresh and the varieties of sushi were limited. Even the desserts.. the cakes were hard and cold and the ice-cream tasted horrible. The fried food was the best among all the choices though. I guess what you pay is what you get.

economic mixed rice. OK Mar 29, 2011

Categories : Food Court

The mixed rice here could be considered as one of your choices when being unable to decide on what to eat when you're here at the food court. For 3$, you can have white rice with 2 dishes. Both were considered as meat dishes as one was sweet & sour potatoes and chicken franks while the other was soya sauce chicken stew. Despite asking for the breast meat portion, the guy still gave me a bony part, probably the thigh or so. The meal was okay, the white rice was crunchy and overall it wasn't too salty nor oily. I had it to-go.

Xin Wang Hong Kong Café is a chain restaurant serving hong kong cuisine, they do sell western and asian too. The staffs here mostly speak chinese and do not comprehend when english is spoken, maybe this is one area where they can improve on. The food is so-so, I decided to go for the western food instead of the usual soup noodles. I ordered a grilled pork chop that came with fries, coleslaw, baked beans and a sunny side up. It was like food court standard, edible and came readily quick but not anywhere near appetizing. Not too pleasing.

Udon. OK Mar 11, 2011

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi | Kids-Friendly

I remember the days where Sakae Sushi had its hype going with the all-you-can-eat sushi buffet tea.

Anyway, I was here 2 days back and had the udon noodles instead. It came with pork sliecs, an egg, mushroom, Japanese fish cake and a side fried tempura prawn. The soup was oily from the pork slices being soaked in it, was tasty still. The udon noodles however were soft, perhaps next time the kitchen could cut down a little on the cooking time for that. The tempura prawn was good and crispy.

Overall it was average dinner.

cai fan. OK Mar 09, 2011

Economic Rice dishes aren't always the best, nowhere comparable to home-cooked meal or perhaps, real tze char. However, what's good is that they are always low-cost, budget and filling. The cai fan at this stall is pretty not bad, at least it isn't that salty nor oily. Serving isn't stingy either. It can get really crowded during evening on weekdays, when people have just knocked off from work and grabbing a dinner before heading home.
