Swiss food! OK Feb 22, 2013

I'm not really a fan of Marche, but I was craving for Rosti... and Marche serves the best Rosti, as far as I know.

In my opinion, I feel that the service was not good enough. When I wanted to change my seat as I was allocated right under the aircon, no staff attended to me. So I was left figuring my way to find another seats. When I saw that the tables in my area were all reserved, I asked the staff if they were anymore tables which were free, but he said they were all taken. It was only after I asked if there were anymore free tables further away, that he said yes, and pointed me to that direction, in which I had to figure the free tables myself again.

However, the food made my experience better. My friends and I ordered smoked salmon crepe, french garlic pork sausage rosti and pork knuckle.

The smoked salmon crepe was the best among the dishes! The saltiness of the smoked salmon is being "neutralised" with the fluffy crepe. Topped with the carbonara-alike sauce, I simply had mouth after mouth of it.

The rosti was quite oily, but well, I had my cravings satisfied.

The pork knuckles were nicely done too.. Fried till crispy, not too hard.

Recommended Dish(es):  Smoked salmon crepe

Good zi char place! Smile Feb 21, 2013

Categories : Coffeeshop | Zi Char

have been hearing a lot about this eating place recently and decided to try it for myself!

As it was the third day of CNY, I was not sure if the place was opened, so I found the telephone number online and called to ask. The staff that answered my call was friendly and assured me that I will be able to get a table when I reach.

The menu was simple, they did not have a large variety of food. So we decided to go with the popular choices such as Cockles, Butter milk pork, 3 eggs spinach and Hor Fun.

The plate of cockles is served cold with lots of garlic and chilli. I liked the taste, but it makes the mouth stinks.

The butter milk pork was a little too sweet for me, but I enjoyed the interesting combination of milk and pork.
(And after the pork was served, I was too busy eating to take any photos..)
The 3 egg spinach was cooked just nice. The gravy was not salty, so it doubled up as soup.

I have to commend their service again, because we initially ordered just Hor Fun, thinking that it will have egg in the sauce. But when it came, we realised we had ordered wrongly and asked for a change to Hua Dan Hor Fun. I was surprised when the staff just took the plate of Hor Fun and changed it for us without making any noise. The service is really good!

Ramen Crave Satisfied! Smile Mar 07, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Ramen

With a wide variety of ramen to choose from, Ramen Champion is the place to get your ramen cravings satisfied! From ramen with thick soup base to dipping ramen to ramen in soy sauce soup, it can easily satisfy different preferences, not to say the different types of ramen used in each stall.

The concept of Ramen Champion is like that of Marche's whereby you get a card at the entrance, order your food at different stalls with the card, and pay at the exit.

Out of all the stalls, I love Bario the best! "Bario" means a strong guy in Japenese and indeed, the bowl of ramen brought out the meaning with the thick and strong soup. The ramen is also thicker than the other stalls and it comes with 2 pieces of fat pork belly. To neutralize the thick soup and noodles, it is topped with a generous serving of beansprouts, which added sweetness to the salty soup.

However, just take note not to overeat the ramen! Although you will feel like trying the ramen from every stall, eating too much will not be good!

Enjoy!
