2nd visit~ OK Jan 11, 2013   (Related Review)

2nd visit to this restaurant, I think the dishes we ate the first time was a tad better.
I realized that this time, the lighting seems darker. LOL. Not sure if it's just me.

Pan Fried Dumplings - 8 for $8
I didn't really like it. Skin was a bit hard, like it was fried for two long. The fillings was alright.

Pig intestine mee sua - $8
I didn't try the pig intestine, not interested in it. LOL. Mee sua was quite good. I added vinegar too it, tasted better.

Taiwanese Beef Noodles - $12
I thought this was overpriced ): It was a little too spicy for me and the beef was not very soft and tender. The noodle was a bit too thick. Soup had some kind of herb-taste. I think it was nice, but a little spicy.

Added the dessert for $5 (with purchase of a main course), dessert of that day was green bean and red bean crushed ice. This was similar to the mango crushed ice. Just crushed ice with red bean and green bean on top. Not very nice ):

I may not go back to this restaurant as i think the dishes are overpriced, and not exceptionally nice. May only go back for the chicken chop rice if i visit the restaurant.

Delightful little treats Smile Jan 11, 2013

This famous tiong bahru shui kueh has relocated to choa chu kang! HOORAY! (:
They sell many different types of breakfast snacks, from shui kueh (rice cakes with turnip? - their speciality) to dumplings
I bought this soon kueh to go as it's easier to eat on the go. They provide sweet sauce and chilli wrapped in small plastic bags and tied with a rubber band.

Soon kueh - 5 for $3 (SMALL soon kueh)
I like that the skin of the soon kueh isn't very very thick but it's able to hold in the fillings nicely.
The fillings inside the soon kueh was crunchy and juicy! I like the taste of it. Refreshing as well. I thought it was quite addictive! You'' just unconsciously put them into your mouth! I was suppose to share them but i add it all up!

I will go back to the store to try their shui kueh another day! smile

Dim-sum dollies Cry Jan 11, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Food Court

Wanted to have some dim-sum for breakfast! But it wasn't as scrumptious as i thought it would be ):

Dim sum at the bottom left was really really bad. It's mango with prawn wrap. I think it was supposed to be crispy, or at least somewhat crispy. But it turned out to be cold and disgusting. I didn't like it at all. Chose it as it was the last 2 pieces, thought it was going to be nice but, EEW. NOPE.

The har gow was not too bad as it was left in the steaming fridge-like thing. Taste quite nice.
Glutinous rice was quite filling, the rice wrapped up a number of ingredients - mushrooms, meat, nut

I think it will be better to go in the early morning if you want to eat nicer dim sums. Plus, it doesn't help that the lady from china did not know anything about the food she was selling. She just said "wo zhi shi mai dong xi de, bu zhi dao bu zhi dao" when i asked her about some things in the dim sum. BAD SERVICE! huffy huffyhuffy

OK, what's next? OK Jan 11, 2013

Ordered the duck noodles as it the the first stall on the right once you step in from the side entrance.

The sweet was quite sweet! I didn't really like it on its own. But it was a different story once you eat it with the noodles. Storekeeper gave quite a lot of noodles. I wasn't able to finish as there were no more ingredients left. Duck was marinated well, absorbed the soup taste. I didn't try the skin as it was too fattening. There were a few pieces of fishcake and tofu, other than that, not much interesting things inside. But for a price of about 3-4$, it was quite filling, so i guess it's worthwhile if you just want to fill up your stomach!

2nd choice Smile Jan 11, 2013

went to foodfare for dinner at quite a late hour.
I wanted to try this stall's shredded chicken with mushroom noodles but sadly, they don't have anymore mushrooms ):
I felt that the aunty was quite pushy! She will probably be a good saleslady. Promoted her chicken rice at first but i said i don't want rice, then she told me to try their roasted chicken noodles instead, and after a moment of pondering with some of her persuasive words, i succumbed.

I asked my more veggies and since they were probably closing soon, she gave me.. 2-3 strands more.. LOL.
I thought the yellow noodles were OK. It felt like she just barely cooked it, as if the moment it was cooked, she took it out.
Chicken was nice. Left a nice taste in my mouth (: Skin was ok, not on the crispy side and had a layer of fats on it. The gravy was a tad sweet but if you mix it up with the yellow noodles, i don't think it'll be that obvious. I didn't try the chilli as i didn't feel like taking spicy stuff during dinnertime (will try it the next time if i can get my shredded chicken with mushroom noodles!)
The noodles also came with a bowl of soup, which i thought was quite redundant as it tasted like MSG soup.

In conclusion, it is quite an OK dish and will be able to satisfy your craving if you feel like eating roasted chicken!
