Value-for-money Steaks! Smile Dec 28, 2014

Collins has become my favourite "steakhouse". The food here is better than more established names such as Astons and Botak Jones.

I always go for their sirloin steaks or lamb chops, which in my opinion is cooked to perfection, as good as you can get from 5-star steakhouses, at a fraction of their prices.

I find myself ordering their lamb chops more often. Do take note, that this item sells out often, particularly on weekends. The lamb is well marinated and cooked (grilled) to perfection. Topped with pepper sauce and served with chips and coleslaw, servings are generous; always sufficient to fill me up (and I am a big eater).

Whenever I feel like having western food and feel lazy to dress up, I simply head over to Collins!

Located in the quiet I12, this Suki-Ya outlet is rarely packed with customers so if you hate queing, this is the best place to dine.

What I like about Suki-Ya is their soup. It is extremely tasty and not overly salty. One of the best in town, IMO. Service is also very prompt, which is rare for buffet outlets. You can order as much sliced meat (choice of chicken, beef or pork) as you want and it gets delivered to you very quickly. Sliced meat a really thin though so you just have to keep ordering.

As for the spread of food, I find it to be limited. In fact I would say, less than 30 items vs other buffet places which have more than 50 at any time. You get about 8-10 vege items, another 5-8 fish/meat balls and noodles. The condiments are also very limited.

The worst part of it all is that they limit your dining time to less than 2 hours.

However, the place is well kept and clean. Overall, it was a pleasent dining experience given the comfortable and clean ambiance, coupled with good service and great soup.

This place takes my vote for the best Vietnamese restaurant in Singapore. It is prepetually crowded and best to go early i.e. before 6.30pm for dinner or expect to queue for at least 15 minutes.

Their phos are excellent; my favourite being their beef pho. The soup is deliciously tasty (not overly salty) and beef is nicely sliced and very tender. Servings are generous as well.

Do try the spring rolls and fried quail too. The spring rolls are exceptionally fresh and goes well with the vietnamese sweet sour sauce. The fried quail is well marinated in honey and very tasty.

Visited this place on a friend's recommendation and had their lamb shank and tiramisu. The lamb was juicy and tender, just the way I like it. Suspect that their food was prepared out of a central kitchen someplace else and food re-heated. Serving was pretty small but enough to make me half-full (though must admit that I am a small eater).
Tiramisu serving was generous, coming in a big glass bottle; thereby filling up the other half of my empty stomach! Taste-wise was not bad; creamy but yet not too sweet.

Overall, was a satisfying dining experience. Would recommend this place!
