There is always queue at this Muslim store. Besides their Nasi Ayam Goreng, the other favourite of mine is their nice Ayam Penyet.

Ayam Penyet is one of the famous local food of Indonesia. The chicken is lightly "smashed" before or after its being fried.

Their Ayam Penyet was quite tender. It was nicely fried and their crispy fried batter was addictive. You can enjoy the smashed fried chicken with their hot sambal chilli.

The Ayam Penyet comes with fried beancurd and fried bean cake. You can get Ayam Penyet with white rice at $4 or Ayam Penyet with fried rice at $4.50.

Bread @ Peck OK Apr 24, 2012
Categories : Italian | Bakery

Decided to try something different, we headed to Peck, a bakery shop besides St Leaven, the bakery we usually patronize when we are at Takashimaya. Although serving different speciality bread, both Peck and St Leaven turn out to be under the same company, Four Leaves.

We bought their Cheese Focaccio@$1.90. Focaccia is a flat Italian bread, similar texture to pizza base. I couldn't really appreciate this bread, its like the crust or side of those thick pizzas which we usually discard. I still prefer the soft bread that we usually had.

Well, my friend loved it and like how the baked cheese flavours lingered in his mouth after eating the bread. He actually prefer this to his favourite bread in Four Leaves.

Chicken Rice@Brother Andy Smile Apr 22, 2012

Recently there is another new chicken rice stall at Tanjong Pagar Complex. However, among all the 3 or 4 chicken rice stalls at Tanjong Pagar Complex, I would still recommend Brother Andy Chicken Rice.

Both his white and roasted chicken are up to standard. Order the chicken drumstick rice if you have a bigger appetite. The rice is fragrant, chilli and black sauce go well with both the rice and chicken.

To complement the meaty dish, you can also include cabbage at $0.50.

Recently, a staff had been engaged to help out at the stall thus customers no longer need to self-service for the soup or payment.

Snack @ Bugis Village OK Apr 22, 2012

Categories : Hawker Centre

It was a cool day, we decided to go to Bugis Village for a walk.

We passed by a stall which had been around for a long time and were attracted by the Foo Chow Oyster cracker and their big wok of abacus. Its difficult to get Oyster Cracker/Cake nowadays, so we decided to give it a try.

Abacus

We get one Oyster Cracker with additional ingredient @$2.50. It was quite crispy but the filling was disappointing as we can't taste any oyster but only some meat taste.

We also got a pack of abacus @$3.50 as the big wok of abacus on display looks really tempting. We thought that this store which had been around for a long time should be able to do well for traditional snack like abacus. However, it was only ok.

Have been eating packed garlic fried rice from Koufu at Anchorpoint. Only realised today that it was actually packed from a Japanese stall, Osaka Cuisine.

The garlic fried rice was quite fragrant and nicely fried. Usually we will add a fried egg to the fried rice. The fried egg is half-cooked and we like how the thick fluid egg yolk blend with the nice fried rice.

Taste of this garlic fried rice was mild or subtle. Couldn't appreciate it initially as I prefer my food to be stronger in taste. But you will like it if you can slowly savour it.
