Ban mian OK May 27, 2011

Ban Mian is (i believe) one of Singapore's delicacies found throughout foodcourts in Singapore. The noodles are cut and pressed out from dough made of flour and eggs.

I ordered the you mian (thin noodles) that came with fried Ikan Bilis, vegetables, minced pork, and fried onions. An egg was added into the broth just before the meal was served. I prefer to let my egg cook a bit more so it is half cooked.

The soup tasted good, and it wasn't too salty, although the noodles could be cooked more, as i found it to be a little hard.

Flaming platter for one

Flaming platter for one

I have always confused Manhattan Fish Market and Fish & Co. as both offers similar menus.

To celebrate my friend's birthday, we decided to drop by the Manhattan Fish Market outlet at Marina Square. I decided to share the 'Flaming platter for one' with my friend.

The Flaming platter for one comes with grilled fish, 2 tiger prawns, fries, garlic rice and mushroom soup (ordered the set meal).

The prawns tasted really weird to me personally, as i prefer savory prawns to 'cheesy-sweet' ones. Hmm...

The grilled fish was alright, although a bit thin, nothing really special. The rice was hard, they could have cooked it longer, however the fries were good.

Overall, the service was good, although the food might just be average

Jack's PLACE OK May 24, 2011

Ribeye Steak

Ribeye Steak

It was a hot sunny day and my friends and i decided to take shelter at compass point to get away from the heat.

We decided to drop by Jack's place as there was a daily lunch set meal. I ordered the N.Z Ribeye steak with brown sauce that came with a soup of the day, ice cream and tea/coffee.

The mushroom soup was thick and flavorful and came with garlic bread.

The steak had a lot of fats and veins which i dislike, however, it was cooked just right (i ordered medium rare). The service here wasn't that good, and the staff were inattentive and rather curt. The manager however, was very polite, and she was the redeeming factor.

I like the baked potato a lot, although i wished the staff could have given me more mayo and bacon bits.

The mango ice cream however, really surprised me, as it tasted real good! I like how milky and smooth the ice cream was.

Overall, an average and affordable meal.

My friends and i decided to drop by burger king for lunch before our movie. I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger as i was craving for beef.

The patty was juicy and fresh and the burger tasted great. The fries were also crispy and tasted great with the chilli sauce.

Overall, a great meal that is fast and affordable.

tako balls OK May 23, 2011

Categories : Japanese

I was hungry and craving for a snack before dinner. I happened to pass by WOW Tako at 313 sommerset and decided to get some tako balls.

I ordered the octopus ones and each tako ball was filled with low quality octopus. Although the octopus wasn't very fresh, i enjoyed the unique sauce and the batter of the tako ball itself.

Overall, pretty ok for its price at $3 for 4 pieces. Will try other flavours next time.
