CARTEL OK Jun 05, 2012

Was at Plaza Singapura to run some errands and decided to drop by Cafe Cartel for a quick and simple western lunch. As it was a Friday, we had two choices to choose from the set lunch menu, and i ordered the Grilled fish fillet with fruit cocktail and honey mustard sauce!

The set meal came with a garlic bread (which was a little hard for my liking), generous serving of mushroom soup and drinks of your choice.

The fish fillet itself was rather flat, and thus not as juicy as it could have been. The fruit salad and sauce was rather interesting when paired with the fish. However, the fries were dreadful, would prefer macdonald's fries anytime. The salad, was nothing special, just a bunch of greens tossed together with a tiny bit of vinaigrette.

Overall, it was pretty average, but at $10 for the entire meal, what more can i ask for?

Yong tau fu goodness Smile Jun 05, 2012

YUM is the word i can use to describe the yong tau fu at the famous Xiu Ji Ikan Bilis Yong Tau Fu located at chinatown food centre.

You will never mis-locate this stall at the hawker centre as there will always be a long queue queuing up for the great yong tau fu goodness. Unlike the other yong tau fu stalls where you pick and pay for the ingredients you want, this stall serves their yong tau fu in standard sizes (small, medium, large) and you can choose to have it just on its own with their delicious yellow bean peppery soup, or with noodles!

The yong tau fu is not only freshly made each day, but also has great texture! The fish ball is bouncy and the tofu is soft and smooth. Great!

Pontian Wanton Mee Smile Jun 05, 2012

One of my favourite hawker delights have to be the well-loved wanton mee, and Pontian has one of the best wanton noodles around!

I ordered their fried wanton noodles with chilli and i must say that i really love their signature sauce that is a mix of black/ dark sauce and chilli! Their wanton although a tad small, was crispy and taste great with mayonise. All in all, a great meal that is cheap and quick!

Satay Satay Smile Jun 05, 2012

One of my favourite hawker favourites and comfort foods had to be the deliciously roasted satay from chomp chomp food centre! I love the great smokey taste the satay has and the juicy and chunky satay flesh! The sauce is spicy and filled with peanutty goodness. I especially love the caramelised fats the satay has, that doesnt taste at all oily and sickening to eat! Wash it down with a glass of sugar cane!

SOD Milk Tea Smile Jun 05, 2012
Categories : Singaporean | Juices

To me, the best way to find out if a bubble tea chain is good or not is to try its milk tea. If their milk tea is good, my views on the store will be good as well!

I decided to try the standard milk tea at SOD (medium) and asked for quarter sugar and pearls! Their milk tea has a unique taste, probably due to the fact that their milk tea is caffine free, which means you dont have to worry about not being able to sleep well at night if you have too many cups of this!

Overall, the taste was not bad, and the milk tea was rich and flavourful.
