Feel the heat at Kazu! Smile Jul 07, 2010

Great tasting grilled food at Kazu Sumiyaki! One of the best Japanese grilled places I've ever been to! Most of their dishes are worth ordering because they all taste so good! Hotate cheese is a recommended stand-out that I always order! Their bacon wrapped sticks are also good, because bacon wrapped around anything is always good!

Service is generally good but the waiting time leaves something to be desired. It's best order everything that you want at one shot otherwise you'll be waiting a long time for it to come as they tend to other orders. Also making a reservation at this place is a must as it is very popular.

Peri-peri Delight! Smile Jul 07, 2010
Categories : Portuguese | Steaks and Grills

This being my first time to Nando’s, I ordered the recommended ‘Mild’ Peri-Peri level of seasoning for a quarter chicken with 2 sides – Peri-Peri fries and Mediterranean rice.

Well, the Nando’s chicken lived up to the hype when I bit into that juicy thigh. Flame-grilled and seasoned perfectly, it was one of the best grilled chickens I had in a long time. Savoury with a hint of spice and lemon, the succulent flesh bade me to finish it to the bone within minutes.

The Peri-Peri fries were excellent as well, dusted with their spice mix. But the Mediterranean rice was an extreme let-down, being just an ordinary bowl of butter rice with some corns, carrots and peas mixed inside. In what universe is that considered Mediterranean?

However the main negative experience at Nando’s was the poor service of the Nando’s staff. This has been noted by many other people as well, but as far as I know, Nando’s has chosen to treat the complaints like they don’t exist – much like their service.

We had to wait for 30+ mins just to get our bill and this was after hailing 3 different wait staff. And the restaurant was not really very crowded either. I know that we weren’t the only ones left out because I could see all the tables around me getting restless and constantly hailing the service staff.

This outlet of Botak Jones is situated right in the heart of the bustling Orchard Road, at the Youth Park. Here they serve up their classic American food and I ordered their cajun chicken which was a large tender and juicy chicken breast, topped with cheese and cajun sauce.
One of my favourite dishes at Botak Jones! I love the tingling cajun taste together with the rich sauces that they slather all over. This place gets pretty crowded at nights so it's best to go early to grab a seat and chow down on one of their famous Botak Burgers.

My favourite chicken rice! OK Jul 06, 2010

Categories : Hainanese | Hawker Centre | Chicken Rice

This is my favorite chicken rice and probably the best I've tasted so far! lol The rice is thick with flavour and the chicken is tender yet with crunchy skin! This is also the chicken rice stall that Anthony Bourdain visited when he was here for No Reservations.

Take note that the queue is super long near lunch time, it can even snake out of the food centre itself! But the wait is well worth it once you taste the yummylicious chicken rice! The chilli is also very nice!
Yummy!

Great murtabak at Zam Zam Smile Jul 06, 2010

Categories : Indian | Halal

One of the best murtabaks I have ever eaten! Besides the usual richness o fthe mutton inside with egg and prata, there is a sprinkling of crispy mutton meat on top. It really adds to the texture of it!

The place is like your usual coffeeshop standards but luckily they have an upstairs seating area which is air-conditioned! Otherwise you will sweat like mad. The service is a bit spotty because it takes forever for a staff to notice you.
