More variety for the foodies Smile Jul 31, 2013

I've patroned Fish & Co for a number of years. Am always fascinated with the variety of fish choices in their menu. I recently patronized them again after about 2 years break, and am pleasantly surprised that they now offer choices beyond the usual seafood and fish - like the peri-peri chicken cum Arctic fish combo. It costs about $20 before GST, but it is delightfully warm & soft, though a little too oily on the surface. For a second I thought I was looking at a menu belonging to Nandos!

The seafood platter is my usual favourite, and again it didn't disappoint with its variety and juiciness. If cholesterol is not an issue for you, this is the dish to go for!

Yummy lo hei OK Jul 31, 2013

Pin Si located in Safra Yishun is not really an accessible place for those without a car, but it still is a reputable restaurant which has quite a fair share of fans who are willing to travel there (or the other branch at Ang Mo Kio Hub).

The restaurant serves generally ok Chinese food, and there isn't any particular outstanding dish which I want to specifically mention. However, the lo hei which we had then was a memorable one. It has a variety of dishes & yummy sauces, and I find myself finishing my share of lo hei efficiently. What's more, the staff are friendly and attentive, which makes my family outing an enjoyable one.

Will be back there for another round of lo hei next year!

Breakfast's alright OK Dec 29, 2010
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Hotel | Desserts and Cakes | Seafood | Buffet

This restaurant is inside Hotel Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre (HISOCC), formerly known as Holiday Inn Park View (HIPV). It is located just beside the renovated Crystal Ballroom on the 2nd storey,

Breakfast style is buffet, though the variety is limited. There are loti pratas, and some local dishes, but hawker fare outside taste better.

However, the muffins are not bad. So don't just stuff yourself with food. Keep a little of stomach space for these muffins & some other pastries. Try the hotcakes too.

It is a little cramped in the mornings when many guests are having breakfast. However, if you take a seat near the window you can have a good view of the expressway.

Good Hanito! Smile Dec 29, 2010
Categories : Japanese | Fusion | Pasta

The hanito, much like toasted bread with ice-cream serving, arrived at my desk larger than I expected!

I like the cubic shape/structure of the hanito, and the toasted bread is great! The combination of ice-cream with bread is fantastic as the melted ice-cream sipped into the bread for a richer and creamy-like taste.

If you are having a main course (e.g. pasta) at Waraku, do take a short break 1st before you eat your hanito - this is ato allow some digestion, and you'll enjoy the hanito better.

The waiters/waitresses there are youngsters, and they are quite helpful.

Tight space, but food not bad OK Dec 28, 2010

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi | Buffet | Kids-Friendly

We ordered the set meals: the Unagi tofu Wazen and the Black pepper Yakiniku Wazen.

The former is quite delicious, especially the unagi which is served on a hotplate and tastes soft & tender when you put it into your mouth. However, it is on the oily side (so health conscious people beware!)

The Black pepper set has the beef served also on a hotplate. But the flames that day seem a little harsh and the meat gets a little charred (cancer-conscious people beware!)

I would have loved it better if the restaurant is more spacious, allowing you to be seated a little further from customers at other tables.

Nonetheless a pleasant restaurant with above average Japanese food.
