HK cuisine at Canton Paradise Smile Jan 17, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum | Roasted Meat

The theme of the restaurant is a Hong Kong Style type of food variety and the lighting within the restaurant is not too strong making one feel comfortable in eating at the restaurant.

Spacing between each tables are not bad too considering this restaurant is not that big too. Waiting time for the food to our table is actually quite fast too.
BBQ Pork with Honey Sauce @$10.80

BBQ Pork with Honey Sauce @$10.80

The pork meat is done nicely though I preferred it to be more darker on the outside if possible. (One of the popular dish in this restaurant other than the pork belly version.)
Work Fried Rice with Salted Fish and Diced Chicken @$10.50

Work Fried Rice with Salted Fish and Diced Chicken @$10.50

All rices are nicely cooked and with all those salted fish and diced chicken inside, it is consider a nice dish to share with friends or eaten by yourself.
Steamed Cheong-fun with Fresh Prawn Filling @$5.00

The cheong fun is nicely done and the sauce itself is very nice while the prawn used is fresh and sweet.

Sauteed French Beans with Minced Pork and Preserved Olive @$10.00

Though the dish looks oil, it is actually very crunchy with those minced pork meat and every bite is exploded with great taste.

The prawns are very fresh and you will be able to taste the natural sweetness of the prawn with every bite
Steamed Custard Bun (3 pcs) @$4.50

Steamed Custard Bun (3 pcs) @$4.50

One of the best custard bun that I have eaten so far. Best eaten when hot (But be careful) and the liquid custard will flow out.

The radish cake is nicely done and very smooth to the throat.

To be frank, I preferred the ones at Din Tai Fung than this as the taste not as good over here.

Dinner at Itacho Sushi Smile Jan 17, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

The restaurant have a very welcoming design with a strong Japanese theme and accessories to give a much Japanese feel to the customers. But the seats are actually quite limited and one thing I found it bad is that the staff do not really helps you to refill your tea automatically at all. I will need to ask for refill a few times before they will refill our drinks which I felt disappointed about the restaurant.
Cold Udon @$4.20

Cold Udon @$4.20

This dish is just normal for me, nothing special as I still prefer the one selling at Kazokutei.
Fatty Salmon (Salmon Belly) @$5.10

Fatty Salmon (Salmon Belly) @$5.10

This is one dish which I felt worth the money spend, the sashimi is very fresh and the tender of the Salmon belly is one of the best I have eaten so far.
Roasted Salmon Roll @$3.80

Roasted Salmon Roll @$3.80

Fresh salmon are being roasted using a strong gas fire which made it a bit cooked on the outer layer of the meat but still having that nice texture of Salmon sashimi feel. Nice dish indeed.
Avocado With Crab Meat Salad @$6.30

Avocado With Crab Meat Salad @$6.30

Slices of Avocado mixed with lettuce, crab meat, cherry tomato and egg topped with some mayonnaise. Not a bad dish and actually if they used some fat free salad sauce would be better.

Having Noodles at Noodlestar Smile Jan 17, 2013

This restaurant called “Noodle Star” is actually quite a small restaurant located next to the Bugis Village at one corner of the building. The staff are friendly and they will come out to attend to you if they see you standing outside looking at their menu.

When we walked in, the restaurant is still quite empty as we are one of the customer went over there for dinner. The restaurant itself looks quite comfortable and the noise from outside is not being hear inside the restaurant which is quite good.
La Mian with In-House Stewed Pork Ribs @$9.80

La Mian with In-House Stewed Pork Ribs @$9.80

The Pork Ribs are nicely done and each and every bite of the meat will actually seems like melting in your mouth.
La Mian with Double Boiled Ginseng Chicken @$8.80

La Mian with Double Boiled Ginseng Chicken @$8.80

They are generous with the ingredients as the soup itself is full of herbals and strong ginseng taste in it while the La Mian is nicely done. (I am very fussy about ginseng soup and this soup base is good for me.)
Steamed Juicy Meat Dumpling (Xiao Long Bao, 小龙包) @$4.80

Steamed Juicy Meat Dumpling (Xiao Long Bao, 小龙包) @$4.80

The Xiao Long Bao here is quite nice with a lot of nice sweet juice from the pork coming out of the dumpling when you bite on it *Be careful of hot soup* but one thing that needs to improve is the skin of the dumpling which I think is a bit too thick.
Pan-Fried Pork Dumpling (Guo Tie, 锅贴) @$4.80 (4 pieces)

Pan-Fried Pork Dumpling (Guo Tie, 锅贴) @$4.80 (4 pieces)

The Dumplings are actually quite normal though it is not badly done. What I can say is not a bad dish thought there should be better one somewhere)

Honguo at Bugis Smile Jan 17, 2013

Honguo is a HK style restaurant. The staff at this restaurant are friendly and they are quick to serve you when you are at their doorstep. Though the restaurant itself is not very big (to me) and tables are quite near to each other, we find that a lot of people are also having lunch over there. So we just go in to have a seat and to check on if there is any interesting dishes that we can order for our lunch.
Lychee Mint Freeze (Left) @$4.50 and Honey Lemon Salty Plum Freeze (Right) @$4.50

Lychee Mint Freeze (Left) @$4.50 and Honey Lemon Salty Plum Freeze (Right) @$4.50

These drinks are the right choice to cool your throat and body in the hot and humid weather of Singapore.
Honey Lemon Salty Plum Freeze - Lightly salted and sweet honey taste
3 Cup Chicken Fried Noodle @$8.20

3 Cup Chicken Fried Noodle @$8.20

Quite an interesting dish to try it out in this restaurant where they use noodle to mixed together with Chinese 3 Cup Chicken. Overall the taste is nice but I think the noodles are a bit over cooked as it is a bit too soft feel.
SzeChuan Chicken in Basket @$7.50

SzeChuan Chicken in Basket @$7.50

Bites of chicken meat are being fired together with dried chilies and peanuts and other ingredients making it a nice SzeChuan dish but only recommend to those who loves to eat spicy dish. *Not really very spicy but to those who do not eat spicy food better stay out of this dish*
Pumpkin Fries with Salted Egg Yolk @$6.80

Pumpkin Fries with Salted Egg Yolk @$6.80

Sweet pumpkin are being covered with some flour mixed with salted eggs giving it a powdery feel on the outside when you bite into it. Interesting and nice dish to have.

TGIF @ TCC OK Jan 17, 2013

Located at Citylink Mall where we can alight at City Hall MRT Station and walk to the restaurant. There are quite a lot of people over at TCC and walking along the CityLink but this is actually a nice cozy place for people to relax over a cup of tea and some dessert while looking at how busy most of the people are walking pass you.

The restaurant is fully occupied when we reached the restaurant but the staffs are friendly enough to accommodate my request to call me (Give them my mobile number) when there is any table available for us when they can actually ask us to wait for the tables to be available instead.
Chicken & Mushroom Spaghetti

Chicken & Mushroom Spaghetti

Chucks of chicken and mushroom are mixed and cooked together with their creamy sauce making it not a bad dish though it is quite normal to me.
Mentaiko Spaghetti w/ Salmon Tataki

Mentaiko Spaghetti w/ Salmon Tataki

Salmon meat itself is around 40% cooked so the internal meat is still very soft while the egg is around 60% cooked and you are still able to see juicy egg yolk leaking out when you break the soft egg white. Pasta itself is cooked nicely with nice Mentaiko base. Good dish for dinner.
