Korean BBQ OK Jul 04, 2013

Categories : Korean | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hot Pot | BBQ | Kids-Friendly

The variety of food offered at the buffet bbq was reasonable. There were some cooked dishes, I recommend Fried Chicken Balls. It was sweet tasting and very nice.

For raw food, there was pork belly, pork collar, beef, chicken both spicy and non spicy were available for selection.
There were also lots of mushrooms and vegetables for selection.

The service was good. My only complain was I felt that all the meat, after bbq, tasted sweet. All tasted the same. That was the only strange and disappointing part.

There was ice cream available as well for buffet customers. Though it's not my kind of ice cream. The quality is just not there.

Taiwan Snacks OK Jul 03, 2013

I had been recommended the braised pork rice at 5 Little Bears and decided to pop in since I was in that area.

We ordered the braised pork rice set, Chicken Chop and fried mushroom.

The braised pork set did not disappoint. The fat and lean meat was in good ratio. I pretty much enjoyed it and for the price vs ambience, I think it's pretty worth it.

However, the chicken chop and the fried mushroom were pretty disappointing.
It was nothing spectacular compared to the many other competitors out there. The mushroom was bland. I think they can improve further.

Brunching again OK May 29, 2013

I first had a cup of Toby Estate's while holidaying in Sydney last year and got hooked.
When I learnt that they are opening a joint in Singapore, I was excited.

Went to Toby Estate's on a Saturday morning and had to wait for a while before getting a seat. They are pretty popular.

Ordered an egg royale, wholesome bread, 2 eggs and salmon. Taste was good thought nothing too extraordinary.

I was being adventurous and ordered an ethopia coffee. It was served in a wine glass and most people drink it without sugar.
It was actually kind of strong and sour, not really to my liking. But the experience of tasting coffee as though I was tasting wine was quite good.

so so ramen OK May 27, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Hotel | Ramen

Everytime i pass by the area, there is always a long queue.
On vesak day, I finally decided to join the queue and ordered a bowl of their ramen to try.
I went for the basic one because I am not a fan for spicy red or black soup base.

To my disappointment, the soup taste pretty bland. The char siew had no wow factor.
The only attraction they have is probably free flow of hard boiled egg and bean sprouts. But seriously, how many eggs can one eat?

Specials OK May 27, 2013

Categories : Desserts and Cakes

I had been a big fan of twelve cupcakes for a while now. I will always buy their cuppies for my friend's birthday.

These few days, they had these 3 flavors as specials, Salted Caramel, Coffee Walnut & Mudslide. I bought them to try.

I was most excited about salted caramel but was pretty disappointed. The cake was nice and soft and moist as usual. But the salted and the caramel flavor seems lacking.

Coffee Walnut was not too bad, what surprised me was that there were bits of walnut in the cake as you eat them.

Mudslide was chocolaty and awesome. Their chocolate cakes never fails!
