Chilli mee Smile Sep 22, 2013

I ordered the chilli prawn mee with bee hoon, topped with pork ribs, fish cake, tau pok and prawn.
the Chili is the main attaraction in the bowl. It was not overwhelming and blends well with the nobee hoon to create a nice flavour that accentuates the taste of the bee hoon. THe chilli and the mee combined was so good, it leaves you wanting more.

The soup was also impressive with the pleasant and distinct herb aroma. A good complement to the bowl of noodles.

super nasi lemak Smile Sep 22, 2013

I had been a fan of Madam Kwan's for years. Every visit to KL means I must visit her restaurant to have the very good quality nasi lemak.

Its finally here in Singapore. I had nasi bojari. It's a tri coloured rice which is pretty and fragrant. Mixed with asam prawns. Tasty with a hinge of sour asam and crunchy.

There was also beef rendag. The beef was so tender it kind of melts in your mouth. The rendang sauce was a bit spicy but tasted very good both on its own or with the rice.

And there was fried chicken. Like the beef, the chicken meat was roasted to perfection, very tender and it's not over oily and very smooth. The skin tasted especially good.

Only problem I had was with the price. $18.90 for a plate of nasi bojari, it's a little hard to accept because it cost around the same in KL except it's in ringgit.

KL Hokkien Mee Smile Sep 20, 2013

Whenever I am in KL, I always make a point to visit Jalan Alor and feast on all the hawker food.

Thrilled to see a Malaysian food street inside RWS. It's good that there is such a food street as well that offers cheaper food alternative to all the pricey restaurants available.

I had a Hokkien Mee. Malaysia version is different as you can see it's fried in black sauce.
The taste was not too bad though fried by a China man. It had got the flavours like those you get in malaysia.
The noodles was fat white ones thats very springy and nice to chew. The prawns and pork fried in it were fresh and the pork especially was extremely fragrant.

overall thumbs up!

roast duck noodle Smile Sep 20, 2013

Rong Kee is a big chain in Singapore having prescence in many coffee shops island wide.

Today I am at the Tampines branch and ordered the roasted duck noodle to try.
The noodle was done just nice, tangy and crunchy.
The roast duck was nice and tender. The skin and the fats was the best part because the fragrance you get in your mouth when you bite the fatty skin was just so good.

The only problem I had with the whole dish was that the noodle was served a little cold. I am not sure if it's supposed to be like that. I thought if it was a little warmer, it would have tasted better.

macaroons bliss Smile Sep 20, 2013

Had afternoon tea at this place famous for their macaroons.
They serve quality Gryphone tea. I had the lemongrass flavour. It was fragrant and refreshing. I like the tea a lot.

Then we ordered various flavors of macaroons to try. My favourite was the sesame. It has the fragrance of sesame which was very special to me in a piece of macaroon and the taste of everything was just super.

I also tried the chocolate flavour. It felt a little ordinary but still good quality stuff.

To top it all off, the cafe is really pretty. ambience was very good.
