Peking Duck Smile Apr 29, 2013

I was pleasantly surprised to see this on the menu in a food court. There was a rather long queue when I visited, and I saw many people ordering this Peking Duck. This dish is commonly seen in luxurious chinese restaurants. The owner is very smart to offer this at a fraction of the price albeit in a smaller portion!

(the plating of this dish looks like a happy face)

So here comes the fun of wrapping the dish on your own! I love mine wrapped meticulously with 1 piece of ingredient each and a dollop of sauce, and then I put the whole thing in my mouth. Tasty with crispy duck skin. Enjoyable!

Chocolate Ice Cream Smile Apr 29, 2013
Categories : Desserts and Cakes | Ice Cream and Gelato

First of all I apologize for the terrible photo, but ION Orchard was really crowded. Even after I moved to a corner to try to snap a photo, there were still a few people walking into me and giving me weird stares for taking photo of an ice cream. sad

HEI ice cream

This is their signature item. Their creations are called "hei", meaning "black", because it's a super premium dark chocolate ice cream made with natural ingredients. This has got to be the thickest and most chocolatey ice cream I've ever eaten! It doesn't taste too sweet, and I was told that it's because it's mostly made up of cocoa, so there's no corner-cutting in this.

Even in the terrible photo above, the fact that the ice cream can still be seen peeking out from the top of the box, shows that the portion given is rather generous too!

Xiao Long Bao Smile Apr 29, 2013

Categories : Taiwanese | Food Court

I came into this food court looking just for a normal food court fare, but the Taiwanese stall tempted me with its Xiao Long Bao! It was a surprise luxury to be able to have this as a meal at an unexpected venue.

The food took really long to arrive, because they only started steaming it after taking orders.

Xiao Long Bao

The wait was worth it, because the Xiao Long Baos were so juicy and full of soup broth! There was so much soup that the surrounding sides of the Xiao Long Baos were bloated - reminds me of a greedy hamster stuffing too much seeds into its cheek pouches.

I picked up the Xiao Long Bao, bit a little hole in a corner, and felt the hot piping soup empty into my mouth. Best meal in a food court!

BBQ Chicken Wings Smile Apr 29, 2013

Categories : Food Court | BBQ

I was having lunch with my friends, and thought of sitting down a little longer after our meals to relax, so one of us went to queue up for the BBQ Chicken Wings. The queue was rather long, but what was surprising was that they actually sell many other types of food other than BBQ Chicken Wings although they've named themselves so.

BBQ Chicken Wings

Decent Chicken Wings with savory garlic chilli!

The food standard is not top-notch, but still rather commendable, so I love to dine at this place for those odd-hour hunger pangs. I usually opt for outdoor seats, because it's really cooling, breezy, peaceful and quiet at this stretch of Sims Avenue at night. I don't usually order alot of food here, because I don't want to be too bloated before bed time. After satisfying the tummy, I always feel so warm and fuzzy, and I'd fall soundly asleep after I get home.
