As this restaurant was the one with the fewest people, we went in to settle our dinner. Big mistake. Putting "Crystal Jade" in its name was their mistake. It makes people's expectations much higher than necessary.

While the dish looked pretty good on the menu, it didn't look half as good in real life:

Maybe the pan was too big. Maybe they should buy a smaller pan. Or simply, enlarge the portions?

The pasta had no taste, it's very bland even though the brown sauce was all over it. The egg was too dry for my liking. The vegetables were the worst! Half-cooked or did they even visited the wok? Or just dipped into boiling water? I don't know, they're really hard to chew which shouldn't be the case.

The fish, oh, the fish. Not very fresh and tasteless. Again, the brown sauce itself was tasteless so both the fish fillet and the pasta were bland. -_-"

Will never visit it again. Waste of money and space (of Bugis+).

So Yummy and Colourful! Smile Jun 12, 2013

Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato

I was so happy to find out that BR opened a branch literally right in the middle of NEX! It is a very central location and really outstanding with such cheerful colours in its design! The queue was short, so we were lucky. There are really 31 tubs of ice-cream~! So cool!

The refreshing smoothie was the attraction that day, so my sister bought one with a scoop of Rainbow Sherbet. We also bought Mango Sherbet and Splish Splash Sherbet and another Rainbow Sherbet separately!

They taste really good! The mango sherbet was the sweetest among all these but it's not sweet enough to gag you. Rainbow Sherbet is an interesting mix of sweet and sour and it is just so pretty to look at.

I love anything that is blue, so naturally, this flavour's colour attracted me. The taste was really sour! So exciting! Haha

I'd love to go back and try out other flavours! ♥

Average Western Fare Cry Jun 12, 2013

I visited Mad Jack for the first time in NEX and ordered this chicken chop.

I had a good impression when I visited the Mad Jack at Jalan Kayu. The baked rice I had then was good and their sides were yummy too.

However, these impressions did not tally with the chicken chop. The standard was.. non-existent. I was disappointed with the entire dish. The chicken was not tender enough, the sauce was just bad and the service was not very friendly as well. The only saving grace was the fries, but well, it's FRIES! -_-"

Well, I hope it improves the standard of their dishes and services, then maybe I'll visit it again.

Great Dim Sum Joint in Seng Kang! Smile Jun 05, 2013

Canton Paradise is conveniently located in Compass Point and definitely a welcomed change because the food they offer is delicious!

This fried mango prawn spring roll is really really good! Crispy on the outside, oozing sweet goodness on the inside!

The beef noodles are springy and its flavour is absorbed into the tender beef slices which are not too thick and not hard to chew!

Chee chong fun is my favourite dish and you can tell the skill level of the chefs in it! This chee chong fun is nice with it not being overly thick but enough to soak in the sauce on the plate! Yummy!

The fried rice is one of the best I've have eaten! It is a bit on the oily side but it's okay to have this once in a while just to taste it! ♥

That's the "open concept" of this restaurant. You can see what the chefs are doing, it's entertaining for me. Heh.

Lotus rice is one of the must-eats in a dim sum restaurant and you can't miss this! Too bad it's very small!

The star of the day - XIAO LONG BAOs!!!!!! To me, this XLB is even better than DTF's!! I really like it! The meat and its soup is in perfect harmony, it is not too salty nor too oily, the skin is thin too!! I really really love it!

Really lucky to have this restaurant in Compass Point!

Recommended Dish(es):  Xiao Long Bao,Mango Prawn Spring Roll and everything else!

Oishii Sushi w/o the Queue! Smile May 21, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

I went to the T3 branch of Itacho at about 5pm and there was no queue, phew! Itacho is notorious for having very long queues and their reservation system is one that I will never use.

Super nice Asari soup!! The sweetness of the clams and the soup is just wonderful!!

Beef Udon tastes really nice! The beef is tender and thinly sliced, easy to chew and sufficiently packed with the taste of the soup!!

Yummy croquettes! Thin fried skin with fillings tightly stuffed inside! Love~!

Gyoza are good too, but maybe a bit different from others?

Cheese maki and mango! Special and tasty!! Creative ideas can be found in the Itacho menu!

According to my sister and mum, they love the freshness of this salmon sashimi!

My super favourite of all-time, UNAGI!! One of the best I've tasted yet!

So, if you want to skip the queue, go to T3's Itacho during off-peak period. Enjoy creative Japanese cuisine in peace and quiet! ^_^
