kueh kueh! Smile Jul 03, 2013

This confectionary shop sells lots of different types of kuehs and other peranakan snacks. They called themselves a peranakan pattisier even! I especially like the agar agar here which is really delicious. They come in small squares and i had the blue coloured agar agar. The Jelly had good coconut flavour and was not too sweet. It was just delicious was eaten cold! I also liked the ondeh ondeh that they served here.

Pretty good hokkian mee Smile Jul 02, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Fujian/Heng Hwa | Hawker Centre | Noodles

The hokkian mee here lived up to my standards. The noodles are pretty wet and are doused in a tasty gravy. generous use of fresh prawns and sotong pieces add tons of flavour to the plain noodles. The noodles are soft but not too mushy with still some bite to them for texture. Not expensive too with a large portion given for the three dollars paid. Waiting time was awhile though of about 15 minutes

Rojak Smile Jul 02, 2013

The rojak sold here is out of the norm. The ingredients are not all mixed together with the sauce instead you are meant to dip them in the sauce. I had a Rojak - $5 to share and must admit I much prefer the normal style of sauce where the sauce clings to all parts of the ingredients instead of just the part that you dip it in. Worth a try though, I guess.

Calamari rings. Smile Jul 02, 2013

Marche has an outlet at Somerset313 and it's always packed! The concept is really interesting where everyone gets to purchase all their food with a credit card.

I had Calamari Rings which was really good. It was so crispy on the outside with a great light batter. The calamari pieces were fresh and succulent and were tender and not overcooked. They went really well with the accompanying tartar sauce!

I also had the delicious burito style Savoury Crepe. It was also good, filled with tons of fresh vegetables.

Otah Smile Jul 02, 2013

We ordered from this place to cater for a family gathering. All the food tasted great! I especially liked the otah! It was really soft and succulent and each piece was juicy. The otah was filled with chunks of real fresh fish and prawns and all these added tons of texture and flavor. It was a little spicy but not too much such that you can't taste the other flavours. Overall a really great dish that goes well with other dishes! The otah dish costs $8/pc and this was a catered dish ordered a la carte.
