The restaurant we had dinner was near to closing time but we were not done with our chit chatting yet so we adjourned to the nearest TCC outlet to continue with our gossip over some drinks.

My Sensorial Sizzle $7.50++
It is a soda with a mixture of mango and orange juice and a dash of lemon zest, topped with a mango jello. It contains orange slices cut into squares and some nata de coco cubes at the bottom. This citrus drink was very refreshing, it wakes up my senses with layers of 3 different types of citrus flavors in one drink...nice! This drink is only available in July, so hurry get one before its gone!

My friends' orders were..

1. Manuka Angel
It is a cocktail coffee drink with manuka honey vodka, shaken and topped with crystalized honey. My friend said the vodka taste is pretty strong.

2. Honey Citrus Fizz
This drink is a mixture of orange, mango and honey in a soda, topped with crystalized honey. My friend said it was quite nice.

Service here was decent, we were able to get attention of servers even though the restaurant was full house at 11pm. This outlet is open till 2:30am on weekends, from the looks of it, it will stay busy even after midnight...a shot of this busy place before we left at 11:30pm.

There's currently a Durian Fiesta promo for their durian pastry for UOB & OCBC credit cards members, we get 15% off the displayed price. I bought a box of their Signature Durian puffs 20pcs at only $42.75 after discount.Look at the generous amount of durian cream filling! The durian cream is made of fresh D24 durian meat, I can taste the fibre with every bite...the durian aroma is rich and intense. The cream was not too sweet, just enough to bring out the natural taste of the D24 durian...thumbs up!

I was window shopping at Compass point, walked past KOI and saw that there was no queue so decided to pop by and get something to drink. I picked the ice cream chocolate without pearls $3.90. Chocolate drinks does not have a sweetness level we can choose when placing order. The chocolate drink was quite thick and creamy...blends extremely well with the vanilla ice cream...yumilicious!

Koi Kei bakery is a famous confectionery chain in Macau and has been selling almond cookies since 1997. Today I had the opportunity to try their famous almond cookie. It really is delicious....the cookie immediately melts in the mouth when I took my first bite. It crumbles and released the almond fragrance that fills my taste buds. There are bits of almond nuts inside the cookie that gives extra crunch while I savor the yummy cookie...will buy this again if I go Chinatown.

Kuriya Penthouse is my favorite restaurant of the year so I had planned to give hubby a treat at this place since 2 months ago. I made reservations with them via email and enquired about what they can do for birthday boy. They offered to custom make a small cake (choice of 3 flavors) with a short message at a reasonable price of $6.00++. They promised to make it a surprise for hubby. I chose the Lychee flavor over mango & chocolate cos hubby like fruity flavor stuffs. And so we waited for D day to come.

For drinks, hubby picked a sweet Plum Wine 八岐の梅酒 $8.00++ recommended by the staffs. He had it 'on the rock' and he enjoyed sipping it with the huge ball of ice.I had the Lime Juice $4.50++ which tasted alright. For mains I chose the Noodle Set $42.00++ with choice of Udon (Hot/Cold) served with Starter, Assorted Appetizer Plate, Tekka Maki, Assorted Tempura, Chawanmushi, Dessert & Coffee/Tea.

My Udon in hot soup....the udon is not the typical thick and chewy type sold in supermarkets. This one seem to be handmade as the thinner strands of noodle varies in thickness. I only had this once when in Japan. The udon was springy and smooth in texture, the soup has the light japanese soy taste and blends well with the simple garnishes of egg strips and spring onions. A satisfying dish! The Assorted Appetizer plates 5 items. The Salmon Sashimi was fresh, Fish cubes with Vinegar Sauce was tasty, Chicken Karaage was crispy & juicy, Edamame & Prawn was also very fresh and the Potato Salad had generous toppings of tobiko roe - really yummy!

Starter - Edamame Tofu, nice and light taste with soy sauce and wasabi, Tuna Tekka Maki 鉄火巻 - the tuna is fresh but I find that they put in a little too much wasabi though, Chawanmushi - nicely done smooth and soft steam egg custard, Assorted tempura - fresh ingredients were used so everything tasted awesome!



Hubby's food choice Beef Shabu Shabu set $45.00++, served with Starter, 2 kinds of Sashimi, Chawanmushi, Miso Soup, rice & pickles, dessert and coffee/tea.

Hubby's verdict...the beef was good, very tender and the soup base was nice as well. He polished off everything in the set meal too.





Now comes the surprise... the customized birthday cake! *drum roll* Tata! The cake arrives with a sculpted ice-dome cover over it...looks very impressive! My money well spent...



We broke the ice to get to the cake...the Lychee Mousse Cake was not very sweet...with assorted fruits topping and a white chocolate birthday message...nice!

Another excellent dining experience with Kuriya Penthouse..kudos to everyone at Kuriya Penthouse that made this happen!
