First impression of dinning in Buffet Town was, "wow" it is so crowded on a Monday night. The place is a little complicated and you really need to search high and low for the cuisine you are looking for. Yes, I mean search. I spend quite a great deal of time looking for my favourite Chili Crab and also the Italian Pasta is hidden in a corner.mad But the Chili Crab served is definitely better than some served at other Buffet restaurant.

For the price we are paying for, I must really agree that it is a great deal. Imagine the "snow mountain" at the entrance, fill with Slipper Lobsters, Oysters, White Clams, etc.. (even though the rojak next to it looks a bit funny). tongue

For prawns lover, if you don't like Chilled Prawn, they do serve prawns in other style like Steam with Chinese Herbs, Nonya Style, Tomato Sauce, etc..

For parents, child below 6 years old will be FOCsmile also, there is a playground with cartoon series for the children to enjoy themselves while the parents are enjoying their food.chopstick (Very family oriented)

This is not my 1st time being to Todai, but introducing the elderly to this restaurant is another question (it is a little expensive to them). Also, dinning at MBS to my mum is a big word. However, when we reach Todai, my mum was surprised that it was extremely crowded. As promise, I told her the variety of food was so large that she would be full if she eat one piece each. bowlHer favourite was the Salmon Sashimi and the chef wasn't stingy when serving her. It wasn't true on that day that oysters were limited to 2 per serving, or rather am I just lucky as all my 3 visits, oysters weren't limit to 2 per serving.tongue

All their seafood are fresh and tasty, you could taste the sweetness in the meat. However, despite being there for 3 times, I always find the tray for soft shell crab empty (no matter early or late). Till now, the tastiness of the soft shell crab remain as mystery.

Personally I feel that they should have a few racks for customers to take the extra fork and spoons or serviettes on their own.smile

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

May Day as usual going to the hawker centre near my house eating my favourite food like Chicken Rice and Peanut Ice Kacang. However, was disappointed to find my favourite dessert has ceased operation. It was a blessing in disguisetongue
I found this Hong Kong Xiao Xi Dessert House with this sweet young lady introducing me a few desserts that they specialise on.

We start off with the Mango Pomelo Sago and Avocado Volcano... Mango thingy was so great that I think it definitely is better than those big names in the shopping malls, and even better than those I have in Hong Kong (I have just came back from HK for a business trip). Moreover, it is only $3, with a very good serving to be shared among a few of us. We thought the Avocado Volcano was a bit expensive for hawker centre ($3.50), but after tasting it, we agreed that it was thicker and richer than those served at nearby fruit stalls and definitely better and cheaper than those in shopping malls.

We bought home a few of their desserts (Lemongrass Jelly with Aloe Vera, Durian Pudding, Hawthorn and Rosselle Jelly with Plum, Osmanthus Jelly with Wolfberries), they are equally good...smile

I will be back to try more...lol

Another buffet Cry May 12, 2013

Been to quite a few buffet restaurants recently, I quite miss my sakura buffet. It has been quite a few years since I dine there. On a Monday night, I climb all the way up to the restaurant on top of the hill and found the price is still reasonable $30 nett per person. To my surprise, it wasn't very crowded.

The seafood at level 2 were not fresh (you will know it when you start eating their sashimi), there was not much variety for the buffet spread. I do agree that $30 nett what do you expect? However, the choice was really limited and some of the food not replenish after 7.30pm. I was there at 7.30pm and waited for the whole night for the otah and pizza, but none was replenished.

The restaurant closed at 10pm and suppose last serving is at 9.30pm, however, to my horror, the service staff started to sweep the floor at 9pm. Initially we thought they will only swept the area without customers, but they actually swept nest to us (less than a foot away).shocked Hygiene?

One more point to note, last serving at 9.30pm is for the buffet spread, the hot drinks machine is off for maintenance at 9pm, hence no more hot drinks after 9pm.

The only plus point is that they served Ben & Jerry ice cream!

I hope that this bad experience only subject to the outlet at Clementi, but I may not have the courage to try other outlets.
