Curry Katsu Bento OK Jul 29, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

Visited this little sushi bar tucked in a corner of Far East Plaza with my colleagues for lunch.

Our order took really long to come even though we were the only ones in the shop. I ordered a Chicken Katsu Curry Bento which came in a plastic bento box, those usually used for take-aways. I'm fine with it, just hopefully they dont re-use it.

Food-wise is quite okay, portion isnt big though. Not a very filling meal for me.

Plain Ramen Smile Jul 22, 2013

Was at Northpoint and wanted to have a simple dinner so we decided to visit Ishi Mura as they serve rather affordable food there.

I ordered a plain ramen for $4.80 as I dont like the Japanese type cha siew.

The plain ramen only comes with an egg, the noodles and a piece of seaweed. Great if you are looking for something simple & cheap.

The soup is really nice & thick, a milky color although you dont taste any milk. It's just hours of boiling I think. Noodles is quite average and a little over-cooked that it's not tangy. Still acceptable.

Paiku Ramen OK Jul 22, 2013

Ajisen Ramen at Bugis Junction is tucked away at a corner at the far end. It's a rather small branch with the seats small and very close to each other. Still quite okay if you are just looking to eat and go.

Decided to give Paiku Ramen a try today as it was listed on the menu as a recommended item.

The Paiku is pieces of deep fried pork ribs, very flavorful and not too hard.. quite easy to peel from the bones. I think I really like it although it's a tack salty. Recommended!

I love Ajisen's chewy ramen so no complains there.. but the soup base is rather salty today.

Also upgraded my ramen to a set and got a plate of Agedashi Tofu to go with it.

I usually love Agedashi Tofus, but I dont recommend to get their Agedashi Tofu here. The skin of the tofu completely just peel away when soaked and they dont give any radish. All Agedashi Tofu should come with radish in my opinion. The sauce is also too salty and when the tofu skin gets soaked in it, it's almost too salty to be edible. sad

Great Fried Rice! Smile Jul 22, 2013

Tasty Treats is one of the many eateries on the 5th floor of Far East Plaza, which serves some of the more affordable food in Orchard.

Admittedly, I have always walked passed the shop without going in as it's one of the shops with lesser crowd on that floor. I finally decided to give it a try today and realized that sometimes pre-judging the food from the crowd is not always an accurate choice.

I ordered a pack of fried rice @ $3.50 for take-away.

Once I opened the styrofoam box & saw the yellowish rice, I knew I've made the right choice. I love fried rice well coat with egg. Yum!

The tastiness of the rice is just right and I actually finished every bit of it. Will come back for more next time!

Clam & Mussel Pot! Smile Jul 16, 2013

Categories : European | Pasta | Paella

Decided to give Ambush a try after seeing the OpenRice food tasting video!

We wait for about 15-20 mins in the queue, but food was served relatively quickly after we were seated.

I ordered a bacon with prawn Aglio Olio (Cant remember the exact name) for myself and a Clam & Mussel pot to share.

Disappointed with my pasta as it is very bland even with the bacon. Salmon is not included. It was from my friend's plate.

Clam & Mussel Pot is a major love! We ordered the pot with Vinc Blanc & Smoked Streaky Bacon for cooking style and it so nice! Mussels if not fresh or prepared properly will sometimes have these fishy taste but these doesnt have that at all!

And although I think the soupy sauce is not meant to be drank directly (abit salty) but I cant help but take sips after sips. So delicious!

Definitely recommend the Clam & Mussel pot (you can take clam only if you dont want mussels), but not the aglio olio!
