Back to my favourite Jap bakery! Smile Feb 13, 2014

Whenever I'm around Novena area, I have to drop by this bakery!! It is my favourite bakery thus far and I really wish it's near my house!
Greentea Azuki Loaf, $2.20

Greentea Azuki Loaf, $2.20

I love the flavour of matcha and bought the half loaf of the Greentea Azuki loaf (as I'm the only one in my family who loves that flavour). Anyway, they also have other flavours available and the half loaf is 5 slices while the whole loaf is 10. The matcha flavour is very light actually but makes a good combination with the azuki beans!
Brekkie

I have always wanted to try their Pumpkin bun and was happy that they were selling it that day smile I also bought the Greentea chestnut anpan and had both for breakfast the next day!

Greentea Chestnut Anpan, $1.80

Greentea Chestnut Anpan, $1.80

I really like that this bakery is not stingy with the amount of filling at all! Both of my buns are filled with pumpkin and azuki-chestnut goodness tongue
I also bought for my mom the Coconut De Melaka ($1.50) and Raisin Almond ($1.50) buns for her breakfast! She love both buns and also agreed on the quality and the generous amount of filling! I will definitely be back again! lol

Thai Iced Lime Mojito & Thai Iced Tea

Thai Iced Lime Mojito & Thai Iced Tea

I always order Thai Iced Tea but I felt like trying something different today. Their Iced Lime Mojito is a 'Must-try' and so I ordered that! tongue I love the taste of mint and lime, which was just what I was craving for!
Spring Rolls

Spring Rolls

Whenever at a Thai restaurant, my dad never fails to order his favourite spring rolls for starters!
Pineapple Fried Rice, $

Pineapple Fried Rice, $

Olive Fried Rice

Olive Fried Rice

All of us actually expected the Pineapple Fried Rice and Olive Fried Rice to be much bigger portion but instead it was like a one person serving. As we felt that it was not enough, we ordered their Phad Thai to share too! I like both the pineapple and olive fried rice!
Phad Thai

Phad Thai

Their Phad Thai was disappointing as the noodles were quite tough and the whole dish lack taste even after mixing with peanuts and chilli.
Pandan Chicken

Sambal Long Bean w Chicken & Salted Egg

Sambal Long Bean w Chicken & Salted Egg

One of my favourite item to order from a Thai restaurant is their Pandan Chicken! It is actually boneless chicken wrapped in Pandan leaf ;) However, I find the the ones here to be so-so only. The sambal long beans were also average only.
Tom Yum Seafood

Tom Yum Seafood

Green Curry Chicken

Green Curry Chicken

Between these two, I prefer the green curry chicken! It was quite spicy and I ended up eating so much more of the ingredients than the soup! tongue
Desserts!

Desserts!

Ending off with desserts, we got the Thai Red Ruby, Thai Tapioca with Coconut Milk, Thai Chendol with Icecream and Mango Glutinous Rice! The tapioca with coconut milk and the mango glutinous rice is nice! I like the texture of the sticky rice and the taste of sweet mangoes! There were only a few pieces of the real red ruby and rest are like watermelon. The chendol with icecream is the most disappointing as it is basically just the green jellies on top of ice and vanilla icecream on the top. I expected much more ingredients from the picture! Overall, this Thai restaurant has a few hits and misses ;)

Toast & Coffee

Toast & Coffee

My parents, especially my dad, has a habit of always needing a coffee break even if dinner time is approaching! Anyway, it's 6 pm when we had our tea break and ordered 2 breakfast sets. Each set comes with toast, coffee and 2 eggs. I find that the toast sets are just average but enough to satisfy a mid snack craving!

Italian food OK Feb 10, 2014

Categories : Italian | Pasta | Seafood

Ever since the opening of Jamie's Italian, long queues are always seen outside the restaurant and it is especially long during peak hours! I heard that the reservation waiting list is as long as 3 months!! My friends and I waited for the hype to die down and went slightly earlier than dinner time. We were happy to have gotten seats within 5 minutes smile We decided to share among us a few of their mains.
Fish Plank

Fish Plank

There are 3 different planks on the menu, meat, fish and vegetables. We got the fish plank, which consist of a few individual food items like beetroot-cured salmon, roasted shellfish, smoked mackerel, italian cheese with crispy bread and chilli jam, pickles and crunchy salad. I felt that this was the best we ordered.
Jool's Favourite Sicilian Tuna Fusilli

Jool's Favourite Sicilian Tuna Fusilli

We had a hard time deciding on the pasta and ended up ordering their recommended Jool's Favourite Sicilian Tuna Fusilli. The Albacore tuna is slow-cooked with tomatoes, garlic, herbs and cinnamon with crunchy herby breadcrumbs. We all felt that the entire dish was just so-so only.
Wild Truffle Risotto

Wild Truffle Risotto

We also ordered the Wild Truffle Risotto, which consist of finely minced black truffle with butter and Parmesan. This dish is much better than the pasta but I could hardly taste any truffle.
Creamy Panna Cotta

JI Warm Brownie

JI Warm Brownie

Ending off our dinner with desserts! The wobbly panna cotta, served with a fruit compote, tasted really average and there was nothing to rave about. The brownie is much better! It has a mixture of chocolate and raspberry within and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream on top. Overall, I don't understand the hype at all as the food is really nothing to rave about.

A warm afternoon OK Feb 09, 2014

My friend and I decided to have lunch at this place after school! It is actually a cafe during the day and a bar at night. The seating area is pretty limited, with both indoor and outdoor, and we chose to sat inside as the weather was quite hot.
Truffle Fries, $11

Truffle Fries, $11

We can't resist when we saw truffle fries on the menu and ordered one to share. We could actually smell the aroma of truffle oil when the fries came! However, we could barely taste any truffle which was disappointing.
Smoked Salmon Crepe, $15.50

Smoked Salmon Crepe, $15.50

As I was craving for something savory, I ordered the Smoked Salmon Crepe. The salmon is fresh and I like it mixed with cream cheese, which they spread very generously on top and inside the crepe tongue
Caramelized Banana Crepe, $11.50

Caramelized Banana Crepe, $11.50

My friend had the Caramelized Banana Crepe, which came with a side serving of vanilla ice-cream topped with mini marshmallows! Anyone with a sweet tooth will definitely love this! Overall, I like the concept and ambience of this cafe but I that the food is pretty expensive given it's average quality.
