No way I am heading back Cry Oct 30, 2013

Headed to Ikeikemaru cause we had previously seen crazy long queues outside this place. Sad to say, we were pretty disappointed by the quality of food there.

It kind of irked me that the chefs in this restaurant were Malaysians. I was honestly expecting a Japanese chef for the prices which they were charging at this place. They were nice and all, but nopes, definitely not trained to serve the best sushi.

The mackerel was dry and it didnt taste fresh. This is the kind of dish to remind me of what not to order in future.

Salmon sushi was ok, but nothing spectacular.

My friend I felt our mouth and tongue getting quite itchy after eating this. We spoke to the chef about it who kind of immediately said that we must have been allergic to something. We told him to try it as well to see if he had the same reaction. He did say he would, but you could see from the body language that he probably though that we are making a big fuss out of it.

This is horrible. Soggy seaweed and so little tuna in this. NTUC sushi is of even better standards.

Bear Paw Buns From Taiwan? Cry Oct 20, 2013

One of the things that surprise me when I first arrive, was how dark the surroundings of the cafe was. I would have probably walked pass it without noticing cause it was so not obvious. All my food pictures had to be brighten at least 6 times to get the effects like below!

I decided to grab a set meal with came with fries and a drink. If you show the counter staff that you “Like” their Facebook page, you will get a free cheesy fries upgrade like I did!

These fries are pretty good and they are really generous with the cheese sauce! After so much expection, I am unimpressed. The taro flavour of the bun was so light, I could hardly taste it. The crispy chicken had such a oily aftertaste to it, it was quite a turn off.

I added 30cents for the mushroom sauce, it looks like they threw the can into the sauce as well, cause there was such a strong can food smell!

For the price we paid, this is money better well spent at KFC indulging in Shrooms or Zinger meal. It didnt help that it was such a messy affair eating the bun and getting sauce all over my face.
I am sorry Bear Bites, I really wanted this to be great review, but I guess I wouldn’t be heading back anytime soon unless it is for your fries.

Food Hunt Madness Cry Oct 06, 2013

Yayoiken is one of the places I hold dear memories of. I had my first meal in Tokyo Japan at one of its outlets.

Quite a disappointment for me to find my experience in the Singapore outlet muted by food that were below standard!

Ordered the Pork Mix Toji which came with ebi fry, sliced pork and pork cutlet.

Pork has the frozen porky smell which is disgusting. It lingers in my mouth even after other items!

I am not sure if I would step back into this place again.

Food Hunt Madness! Cry Oct 06, 2013

Coffee Kaki is located on B3 of 313 Somerset and it serves tradition coffee and tea as well as set meals that is ideal of shoppers looking for a quick meal to quell their hunger pangs.

We ordered the roast chicken set and expected a piece of succulent chicken in between 2 slices of white bread.

Instead it looks like we had a chicken mayo spread all over the bread. How disappointing!

Drinks were pretty ok. $2.20 for a milo seems pretty pricey but I guess it is meant to make the set meals more worthwhile to get!

Food Hunt Madness Cry Oct 06, 2013

The openrice food hunt brought me to try out Bao Today's siew mai, har gao and herbal jelly.
The items were served in 5 mins and in big portions.

Sadly it is packed me ajinomoto which made me so throaty after eating 1 siew Mao. Prolly one of the worse thing in a F&B establishment is the use of ajinomoto excessively in their food.

Herbal jelly was ok in my opinion. It could be a little softer though!

Service level here isn't good with super Sian looking staff. One of the saving grace of this place is probably that they open till 1am daily.
