Great Food @ Sentosa! Smile Oct 21, 2013

I am not sure if anyone has been to The Boxing Crab in Sentosa, because if you haven’t they have some really out of the world dishes which I am craving for! I am not even obliged to do a write up for them, but honestly, how can I not recommend this place to you!

We kicked things off with the Otah Otah Cigar, which is Otah wrapped in popiah skin. What made this dish so special was that the explosion of lemongrass flavour in the otah. Major love at the moment for me!

Tangy, smokey and well marinated, I was quite surprised that I enjoyed it alot more than I thought I would. The squid was soft and chewy, and you should definitely go wild with the sauces that came with it!

*MUST TRY ITEM*
THIS IS SO BLARDY FANTASTIC, I can just drink up all the sauce! The sauce is so so so so so so good! I have honestly never ever eaten just a awesome lobster dish before. My mouth is watering like mad as I am blogging this post at 5am in the morning!

*MUST TRY ITEM*
THIS IS MY ULTIMATE FAVOURITE DISH OF THE NIGHT. I was raving much about how much I love this dish! There is this coyingly sweet smoky taste to this dish which keeps you reaching out for more. It lingering in your mouth in a good way and the crab just taste extra sweet!

*MUST TRY ITEM*
This is the signature dish at boxing crab and all it takes is just one spoonful of that thick savoury peppery pumpkin sauce to understand why. The broth is so rich and silky smooth, its like drinking liquid gold. This sauce complements the taste of the crab meat really well because of the peppery nature of the sauce!

Location is a little unreachable, do note that the shuttle bus ends at 10, so if you are eating till late, you would need to hail a taxi or drive your way out. I would suggest having a early dinner in that case!

Good Fresh and Healthy Smile Feb 25, 2014

Categories : Salads/ Acai Bowl

While on the lookout for a good healthy lunch, I happened to come across The Lawn's website and I decided to head down with one of my colleagues try out their outlet which offers customizable salad options!

When I step into the stall I was a little confused at first but one of the helpers kindly guided me throughout the process where I had to choose 5 toppings, 1 sauce and 1 grill to go with my salad! There is also an olive rice option but i wasnt in the mood for carbo.

After poring over the selections, I went for the Chicken with Maple Infusion and the premium wasabi based Wasahonie sauce which are placed a topped my greens 5 favourite toppings! We paid at the counter before being given a number tag for the meal to be delivered to our table.
Mushroom Soup

I also ordered their soup of the day which was mushroom soup. The serving size didnt impress me at first, but one slurp of it and I am sold! Chunky flavoursome mushroom soup, what is not to like about it! With a wholemeal bun to match, it this small portion is pretty filling for a side dish!

Our bowls arrived and we were left gaping at the sheer size of the portions. The team at Lawn is certainly generous! Chunk of meat covered the salad, a sight which is rarely see on a salad.
My Salad Combo

My Salad Combo

Everything was well seasons and no one taste overpower the taste of the other. It was a perfect harmony of flavours and I totally dont regret topping up for the Wasahonie sauce which is d.i.v.i.n.e!

My colleague kind of mismatch her flavours so it turned out a little weird, but it was nevertheless still pretty yummy.

All these choices didnt cost us more than 12 dollars per pax. Super reasonably prices in my opinion!

VERDICT
I think Lawn can join my list of favourite healthy eatouts, together with "Soup Spoon". Good fresh food with portions that can fill you up the whole day, (how often does that happen?), whats not to love about this place!

My only grouse is that you would need a little navigating when you head over to the lawn which is located a 15 minutes walk from Buona Vista MRT station. If you think positively, at least you are getting a healthy work out from all that walking!

My all time favourite Mee Sua Smile Oct 30, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop | Chinese Soup

“Soupy Goodness” is the term for this simple bowl of rice Vermicelli at Kembangan

Unlike usually conventional Mee Sua which is served with chicken stock with an egg in it. It is herbal based and comes with either pig organs or pork slices depending on your preference.

It’s not centrally located, but you wouldn’t be able to miss it as you are driving along Changi Road cause their business is sooo good they took up 4 shop spaces!

We were given the Suribachi and Surikogi (the official name for the Japanese mortar& pestle) to prepare our sesame paste for our Ramen. Good activity to keep as entertained while we wait for our food!
All In Ramen

All In Ramen

Toasted Seaweed, Chashu, Seaweed, Cloud Ear Mushroom, Mentaiko, Soft Boiled Egg.
This Ramen is sooo packed with the variety of ingredients in a thick flavorsome pork broth!

Tasted pretty good though the broth was a littttttlleee bit muted in taste, which would definitely taste better if it was enhanced.
Tan Tan Ramen

Tan Tan Ramen

A generous serving of Ramen top with Half Boiled Eggs and Chashu, while being drenched with thick peanut sauce which was totally rich in flavor. This was quite a hit among us. The sauce can be quite overwhelmingly thick as you reach the end of the meal, so you probably wouldn’t be slurping it all up
Spicy Cold Ramen

Spicy Cold Ramen

This is soooooo good, I was wolfing down all of it like I haven’t eaten for 10 days.

A mix of sweet and spiciness in the brown sauce and the abundance of the cucumber strips to add to the cold ramen. This bowl of ramen is perfect for those who loves savory stuff. You should see how much I was gushing about this bowl of Ramen as I was eating it.

French @ Pocket Friendly Prices Smile Oct 22, 2013

Categories : French | Restaurant | Seafood | Steaks and Grills | Burgers and Sandwiches

If memory serves me right, Saveur used to be located in a coffee shop just opposite Katong 112. The two young entrepreneurs have also been featured on TV before for their choice of serving quality French food in a Coffee shop.

Currently located at Purvis Street, this restaurant seems to be having a roaring good business!

Comes in a petitel little cup and beautifully presented. Was a little too creamy and it came with a powdery after-taste.

I would recommend this as one of the top dishes in the restaurant cause the beef was just so tender, juicy and well marinated. The potato gratin that came with it was fantastic too. Buttery fragrance and explosion in flavour which keeps you going bite after bite! 3 thumbs up!

This is the signature dish of Saveur and I could easily tell why. The meat just slides off the bone with a gentle touch. A mouthful of duck, complemented with the mash potato and accompanying sauce is a match made in heaven.

Perhaps I havent got around trying too many duck confit, but this is really really good!

Every restaurant will definitely have its hits and misses. This one is the miss.
Weird tasting and just… dont bother with it.

Blood Orange jelly with Citrus fruits and Crisps littered around the dish. This was nothing to scream about. We called this the “Scam” cause its just jelly and fruits being displayed prettily.

For chocolate lovers, the thicky fluffy creamy mousse littered with chunks of hazelnut and berries will be just for you. I kind of love how they plated it, not conventionally centralised with its eye catching explosive effect.
