Carbonara Delights OK Jun 11, 2013
Categories : Italian | Middle Eastern/Mediterranean | Pasta

Passed by this place and the menu was very impressive (loads of pasta and risotto choices) so decided to stop by for lunch. I ordered the Truffle Carbonara Tagliatelle and the dish was a huge mountain of pasta, creamy sauce, bits of crispy bacon and chives. I think it's not bad although it is a tad dry, could use a bit more sauce. Quite a heavy dish due to all the cream and egg (the taste of egg seems particularly heavy) so if you want room for dessert, order to share. chopstick

Cheap and good ban mian Smile Jun 06, 2013

The decor of this Ban Mian stall is quite impressive. They have 2 pillars with their signs up in lights! Hard to miss it especially it's from a small food court in AMK. I ordered the Pork Belly Ban Mian which sounds super good! The pork belly is like strips of bacon and the ban mian is cooked just nice. Soup is not too salty and tasted refreshing. The overall taste is quite good and you don't feel overly full as there doesn't seem to be much MSG. smile

Expensive Burger Cry Jun 06, 2013

Market Grill is a little restaurant tucked away in a corner along Telok Ayer street. The place is really really SMALL and there are very limited seats (and they don't do reservation) so go early if you can. I tried their beef burger and it is very normal. Seriously, there is nothing memorable about it. I didn't even think it was all that good. The patty was quite thin and you have more mushroom and bacon more than anything else. I prefer the BK burger over this as it doesn't cost as much and taste better.

Baked Rice Smile Jun 06, 2013

My go-to comfort food at Swensen's is the Beef Stroganoff Baked Rice. Basically it is strips of beef covered in thick oozy cheese and baked to lovely perfection. And they drizzle some delicious sauce to coat the rice too. The beef is tender and generous plus the cheese is very fragrant. I think there might be bits of onions too. Once you eat this, you will be too stuffed for their dessert.

Good food but poor service OK Jun 06, 2013

Spotted this little sushi area at FEP and was curious about their food. So me and my friends asked for seats but the staff were quite rude! Took them awhile to even bother with us and show us to a table. There weren't many people there either so I'm not sure why the service was so poor. It also took them a long time to get our order and the food takes awhile to prepare so not a place to go if you are in a hurry.

I tried their Chirashi and I got to say it was a nicely presented dish. Thick slices of fish and scallops. My favourite item has got to be that scallop. They only gave ONE but it was the best bite out of the entire meal. I would recommend this as I feel the seafood is fresh and generous. Just beware of the service.
