I have always seen a queue forming at Ibake thus one day after church I joined the queue as well. First impression was beautiful looking bread but service seriously needed a lot of improvement!!!
I ordered a bacon and potato foccacia ($2.80), 1 americano ($5) and a bread basket ($8) that consist of 6 mini version of the breads. One of them that I like the most is French Stick with Milk Cream as it has is sweet tasting cream that goes with well with the bread. However most of the mini size bread are rather hard thus maybe will be better to order the normal size bread. As for the americano, it was rather mediocre. Perhaps other drinks might fair better.

Eat while it's hot. OK Nov 17, 2013
Categories : Malay | Bakery | Halal

Just about a stone throw away from the Kway Guan Huat is the famous Sha Zah confectionery.

Beside the malay puffs and samosa, they are also selling epok epok.
The rendeng curry puff ($1.60) is made with flaky pastry and mutton filling. Although the fillings are quite generous, I found the skin a little bit dry and hard when it's cold. Thus best to eat when it's piping hot or toast it before you eat it ya.

Spending per head: Approximately $2

Interesting nostalgic cafe  OK Nov 01, 2013

Once you stepped in to the cafe, you will be greeted with warm friendly smile from the staff here while they show you to your table. I was rather intrigued by their tables. It is made with folding table legs with glass top and metal skirting. On top of that, there are metal tins used as cutlery holders and vintage cup for the sugar cubes.

Beside the comfy nostalgic setting, there are also free wifi here. So good for anybody who needed internet connection for their IT gadgets.

I ordered a butter croissant ($2.50) and a chicken mozzarella sandwich ($14), in total I spent $16.50. The butter croissant was served hot with a very beautiful vintage looking chinaware. I was told it was homemade by one of their pastry supplier and I love the buttery taste that it left in my mouth.

The chicken mozzarella sandwich was not bad. The bread was toasted with the outside slightly crispy but the inside was a bit soggy. I like the flavorful grilled vegetables and with the smoked paprika aioli, the chicken chucks tasted great. However this sandwich can be a little bit messy to be eaten and portion is a bit small.

Overall I feel that it was a good cafe to bring a book and spend your day away as it is a very cosy and quiet place. On top of that, service here is remarkable with a lot of smiles. Best of all, there is no service charge or GST. However as it's a new establishment, thus the items on the menu I feel is quite limited. Mostly there are only sandwiches, salads and some desserts on the menu. I do hope to see more mains coming up. =)

Quiet huge coffeehouse OK Oct 31, 2013

Located in YWCA, cafe lodge is easily access via public transport ( 5 mins walk from parkmall) and via expressway(CTE) if ypu are driving. This is a huge coffeehouse with setting that seems to pause in the 80s. However this is definitely a quiet place to go to if you want to avoid crowd. I stumbled upon this cafe while I was attending some church event. Most of the time, the service staff would leave you alone to chit chat with your friends unless you needed something from them. Thus we had our bill settled at the cashier.

we ordered a pot of TWG Tea's Earl grey ($7.50) and half dozen finger sandwiches ($4.50). The TWG tea was served just the way you have it at TWG TEA but water temperature was a bit more to lukewarm. The portion for the sandwiches was considered decent for coffeehouse standard. On top of that, there is an option of cheese, ham, egg mayo or tuna fillings. For the price paid, I considered that relatively cheap.I would highly recommend this place for quiet gathering and a place whereby you want to spend sometime alone reading a book while hiding in an air conditioned place.

Something good about this place is that the renovation here is very simple yet comfortable. On top of that, they serve brunch till 12 noon during the weekdays. Good for people who wants to have brunch on weekdays and have some quiet time around town area.
I ordered a Benedict egg breakfast ($20) which was rather small in portion. The bread was slightly crispy and the spinach was sautéed lightly. However I find that the vinegar taste in the poached eggs a bit overwhelming.
I have also ordered a pot of tea. love the earl grey tea, it was just of the right temperature.
Overall, it is a good place to have brunch and do some reading during the weekdays.
