Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim Sum

Located at Jalan Besar with really very simple deco, I feel that they serve relatively decent dim sum. There is nothing to rave about the deco here, just simple shop space with some tiles on the walls and lot of tables and chairs. Service here has improved over the years and now they even have a counter near the main door to navigate the ever long queue forming outside the shop. Food is always served very promptly but the only issue you might face here is for those who drive to find a parking lot. Personally I feel that it is quite easy to get there via public transport. You can either walk from the farrer park mrt or from the nearby bus stop.

Chicken Claws aka 凤爪 ($2.50)
Personally this is the last dish on earth that I would ever order as I really have difficulties crossing the hurdle of eating those feets that stepped onto the dirty floor daily. However my partner S is a big fan of this and I was kinda forced to try it. Surprisingly I like it. it was really flavourful and soft. On top of that, it is very well handled with not even a tinge of the dirty shitty feel and S also told me about the collagen that chicken feets has thus this become one of my favourite dish to order these days.

Steamed beancurd roll in oyster sauce aka 蚝油鲜竹卷 ($3.20)
One thing I like about this dish is that they use the whole fresh prawn to wrap it in the beancurd skin. However I still prefer the deep fried one as this is a replicated version by just adding some special oyster sauce to it.

Salted egg yolk custard bun aka 奶黄流沙包 ($3.60)
This is one of the best loved item on the menu. The salted egg yolk custard bun here has a intense aroma of the salted egg yolk yet it is not "jelat" after eating it. On top of that, there is a well balance of saltiness and sweetness. I would highly recommend this yummilious salted egg yolk custard to anybody who has a thing for salted egg yolk.

Fried Dou Miao with Garlic aka 蒜茸炒豆苗 ($6)
Frying of dou miao is never an easy task as the importance to make sure that it's thoroughly cooked and yet not overcooked is very crucial. For this dish, Swee Choon has it spotted on. On top of the fragrant of the garlic, the dou miao is light and easy to finish it in a snap.

Double boiled Chicken Soup aka 元盅炖鸡汤 ($4.50)
The soup is very ordinary and I wasn't impress with the soup here. However it is still passable if you are just looking for a quick soup craving fixed.

Chrysanthemum Tea aka 菊花茶 ($1.30)
The drinks here are just mediocre as compare to the dim sum.I guess it's always a good pairing to have some tea while having dim sum thus it's my regular drink to order here. However for only $1.30, please do not expect a big pot of tea. The above is the what i have ordered the other day and the total spending was $22.55 inclusive of 7% GST. There is no service charge here.

Overall there are hit and miss for the food here depending on what food you order. However for a supper joint, food here are decent and affordable. Personally I would choose this above all the rest of the midnight dim sum place in Singapore.Do give it a try if you have not try it yet.

Located at Resort World Sentosa, this Imperial treasure outlet has a very high ceiling due to the structure of RWS. I like the fact that the renovation of the restaurant is done in such a way that there are quite a lot of privacy for the customers. On top of that , the warm orange lighting gives people a very relaxed feel. However the air condition here was kind of cold the day I went there.
We ordered Shanghai stir-fried rice cake ($14), Xiao Long Bao ( Shanghai Steamed Pork Dumpling , $6) and wanton with hot chilli sauce (6.6) and spent a total of $31.31.
Personally I love the xiao long bao here and feel that they are one of the best xiao long bao served in Singapore. The skin was handmade by the chef here and they were really thin yet thick enough to hold the meat fillings and the rich flavorful broth. I would suggest anybody who order this, eat it while hot to savor the best of the xiao long bao.
Although the skin of the wanton with hot chilli sauce was really thin as the xiao long bao but the got chilli sauce wasn't as good as the ones at other outlets. There was a lack of some elements that I couldn't really put into words
The fried rice cake here was not of evenly cut. They might be cut from a big chuck of rice cake instead of those machine cut ones. The rice cake tasted quite springy as compare to those selling outside but I felt that it would taste better if it was cut slightly thinner.
It was quite a good meal if the air condition there wasn't so cold. On top of that, the service here was quite average and the staff here spoke mainly in mandarin. I requested for more ginger for my xiao long bao but was given only a very small amount of ginger. =(

Cheap sushi fix Smile Oct 14, 2013

I think this must be one of the cheapest sushi bar in town. Everything here is priced at $1.50. On top of that, there are free wasabi, green tea and ginger.
With the idea of having a fast and cheap sushi meal thus there wasn't much effort being put into the deco. All you can see here are just seats ,sushi bar counters and conveyor belts.
Although it's named Sushi express, I have encountered several time that there is a significant waiting time for certain food to be out. On top of that, the plastic covers used to cover the food are being recycled. If the above didn't concern you, then just tuck in and enjoy the food.
Food here are relatively valued for money and certain sushi e.g Seared Salmon Belly sushi, Scallop, Lobster salad sushi and cream puffs are considered very tasty.
Do give it a try if you don't mind to queue.

The take away box for the egg tarts

The take away box for the egg tarts

egg tarts

egg tarts

I have just received a box of 6 egg tarts from imperial treasure bakery about a few hours ago.It is so good that I must pen it down.
The egg tarts were still warm when they reached my house (5 MRT stops away). I tried one and it got me hooked! The egg tarts cost $1.30 each and were slightly bigger than usual egg tarts. On top of that , they have this biscuit texture crust which was really crunchy yet melt in the mouth. Beside that, the combination of the soft egg custard and the yummy crust is totally heavenly, it was like orgasm in the mouth. I was left feeling really happy after eating.
I would recommend this value for money egg tarts to anybody. But do bear in mind, the eggs tarts taste better while hot as when it's cold, the crust is slightly softer.

Earl grey ice cream with a twist Smile Oct 11, 2013

we ordered 2 scoops of the ice cream, Lychee and Earl grey with fig at $4 per scoop. I do suggest that if you are ordering 2 scoops of ice cream, please tell the scooper that you want it to be placed in a separate bowl or in the same bowl. Reason given that if placed together, it will be charged at $7.50 instead.
The earl grey ice cream was quite unique as compare to the earl grey ice cream elsewhere. The addition of figs to the ice cream enhanced the taste with its nature sweetness.
