Overall, food at Garame Indonesian restaurant was of an acceptable standard. At least, the glutton family truly enjoyed the simple meal and appreciated the tranquility of the ambiance surrounded us. Most importantly, we are blessed for every moment with the company of each other in this peaceful atmosphere, no one missed out and perhaps this was the most wonderful part of the meal.

MUST TRY Tahu Telok!

MUST TRY Tahu Telok!

Food was generally good, the Tahu Telor was a house specialty, the tahu was cut in cube shape which was different from the traditional Tahu Telor of mashed tofu coated with deep fried eggs. The taste was reasonably good with the sauce.

Tender meat definitely, but tastes slightly bland!

Ayam Bakar (Grilled chicken) was grilled and doused with spices mixture consists of chili, tamarind, garlic and others. A simple dish with a relatively simple taste.

Soft and yummy Ikan Pepes! A little like a pricey huge piece of otah!

Ikan Pepes was a high end version of fish otah wrapped in pandan leaves and steamed to perfection. The fish was fresh and tender, but the otah paste was nothing too exciting to talk about. The herbs in the paste were quite distinct but blended well with the fish.

We went for the chef’s recommendations to play safe, if the best dishes can’t do well, probably you can’t put too much hope on the rest.

Hokkien Noodles: The traditional KL version came with big fat noodles and plenty of sweet sauce with lots of pork lard. When the dish was served, my daughter instantly suffered drawback symptom, and she refused to take a bite describing why we ordered a plate of cooked fat earthworm! The noodles were sweet in taste and perhaps too sweet that taste nothing but a plate of sweet noodles.

Beancurd with pumpkin sauce: Presented in a alluring manner but the pumpkin was hard and not soft to the bite. Seasoning was mild and a light dish that will please those health conscious.

Wasabi prawn: Beautiful presentation and the prawn was fresh and springy, it was lightly coated with the mixture of wasabi and mayonnaise, topped with the crispy extra fine vermicelli that accentuated the flavourful of this signature dish. This is one of the salivating and excellent dishes that cannot be missed when dining here.

Crab with salted egg: The house specialty is crab and naturally a must order dish when you are here. The crab was perfectly cooked; the meat was easily detached from the shell and firm, it went well with salted egg gravy.

Crispy roll: A filling made up of fish paste and shrimp, wrapped in a paper thin beancurd skin and deep fried to a perfect crisp exterior, dipped into the mayonnaise and truly succulent to the taste buds.

Average Nasi Lemak OK Sep 02, 2013

Nasi Lemak

The perpetual long queue was palpable during weekend waiting patiently for the steaming hot rice from the Mizzy Corner Nasi Lemak. The snaking queue was a obvious contrast to the sparsely customers patronized the Sri Sujana.
Honestly speaking, after tasting the Mizzy Corner and compared with Sri Sujana, we think justice need to be done to the over-hyped Nasi Lemak Mizzy Corner and give the far under-rated and much impressive underdog-Sri Sujana Nasi Lemak some boost.
We paid a lot of attention to the rice and chili, the rice from Mizzy Corner was too ordinary, missing the critical mass of the nice coconut and pandan fragrance, very disappointing compared to Sri Sujana Nasi Lemak. The chili from both of the stalls was sweet and nice, blended very well with the rice.

Mizzy corner Nasi Lemak may have an upperhand on the ikan bili which was of better quality grade and nicely fried to the right crispiness, the Chicken wings were comparable with Sri Sujana.

Nakhon Kitchen Thai Food

My family likes Thai food and we had tried both their branches several times in the past, a basis expectation of a good quality restaurant in our definition is the ability to provide consistent good quality food over the time. However, my family has the kind of love hate relationship with Nakhon Kitchen, every visit to the restaurant was luck of the draw, a dish could taste real good in one visit but a total disappointment in the next, the inconsistency in the food quality was validated in the few visits to the restaurant. An area the restaurant may need to do some reflections and find way to improve.
