We had the opportunity to try three of their flavours, including their Classic Original, Tempting Oreo and their new flavour – Blueberry. And to make sure that everyone is able to have a bite of these Jelly Hearts, everyone of their products is halal certified!
Classic Original
There is a light, slightly chewy and sour jelly resting atop the non-baked cheese cake, the difference in texture between the layers was a good kind of intriguing. The cheesecake itself was well balanced and all layers went well with the crust!
Blueberry
This time round the jelly tastes a little like blackcurrant juice. There were also berries in the cheesecake layer with chocolate biscuit crust at the bottom.
Oreo
Said to be a hit with the kids, we think it could really be a hit with all ages. All of us liked it as it was light and not too sweet. The different layers looked “very cool”.
Our verdict, definitely a great delectable dessert after a meal: the melt in your mouth fruit jelly, fragrant digestive biscuit and the soft cheesy cake combination create a wonderfully light dessert that is somehow fascinating to all ages.

There are two famous prawn noodle stalls at Old Airport Road Market & Food Centre: Albert Street Prawn Noodle, with a long history that can be traced back to 1963, and Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodle, which we have just reviewed. Sadly, Albert Street’s only branch at Lavender Food Court has closed its shutters, along with the closure of the food centre recently.
We went there over a weekend and the queue wasn’t that long. However, Albert Street Prawn Noodle seemed to have slightly more patrons than its counterpart Whitley Road Prawn Noodle. Does it mean Albert Street is better in quality and taste?
We ordered the dry version prawn mee ($5) which came with a big bowl of soup with sliced prawns and pork ribs submerged in the stock.
Albert Street Prawn Noodle served up a more generous portion of prawn mee as compared to Whitley Road Prawn Noodle, and the soup was tastier, though we still wouldn’t call it impressive. Looking at the many accolades displayed at the stall, we weren’t able to truly appreciate why – perhaps a case of faded glory?

So the Great Prawn Mee mission continues. We found ourselves in Old Airport Road Market & Food Centre to check out two old timer prawn mee stalls – Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodle and Albert Street Prawn Mee, both having been raved about by many.
Not sure how many of you have had the chance to visit the once famous food centre under the Toa Payoh flyover along Whitley road in the 70s – that’s where the birthplace of Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodle is.
We ordered only the dry version ($5) since it came with soup as well.
The soup was a vivid orangey colour, a sip of the soup revealed a strong and distinct prawn flavour that we think was too fishy. It also lacked sweetness and the much needed fragrance of a good prawn soup. Compared to many other prawn mee we have evaluated in the last few weeks, the prawn broth of Whitley Road Prawn Noodle was mediocre.
It's a head-scratcher why their loyal fans keep on returning despite the myriad of issues we experienced. Though Whitley Road Prawn Noodle is purportedly one of the best prawn noodles in Singapore, we have our reservations!

Curry needs no introduction to Singaporeans – we’re all familiar with all its different variations and just how plain delicious it can be. But the Japanese have certainly brought their own twist to this popular dish – and we got to experience this recently at the newly opened branch of CoCo Ichibanya at Westgate Jurong. The Westgate outlet is the first cafe-style concept for CoCo Ichibanya in Singapore.
CoCo ICHIBANYA offers varieties of Japanese Curry, and is perhaps the only curry restaurant chain that allows us to customize or design our plate of curry rice. The highly customisable menu allows us to pick the amount of rice and the type of vegetable to go along with it, with different levels of spiciness, from the highest of level 5 to a mild level of almost sweet curry.
We have tried their level 2 spiciness for Pork cutlet curry with cheese $12, level 3 spiciness for Creamed mushroom omelette curry $14,Salad $7, Banana Choco Pancake $8.90 and Rainbow Fruity Pancake $8.90.
Our verdict, curry from Coco Ichibanya will definitely be able to meet our curry craving with its rich and flavourful curries. Though we have not tried level 4 and 5, judging from level 2 and 3, we think that’s already good enough for the general public who can tolerate some level of spiciness.

Ribs are Morganfield’s claim to fame – self-proclaimed Home of Sticky Bones, they are slow grilled and smoked to achieve an even tenderness, then swept with a special barbecue sauce for a taste of smokey perfection.
Morganfield’s first branch in Singapore was at Star Vista, and they quickly expanded to open its second branch at Suntec City, right beside Promenade MRT station, where we were invited for this food tasting session.
Though Morganfield’s is well-known for its sticky pork ribs, the newly revamped menu now includes a wide selection of appetizers, salads, steaks and chops, seafood, poultry, burgers, sandwiches and an array of side orders.
We got the chance to taste some of the popular side orders alongside the ribs.
Our verdict, if you are looking for a good chill out place with friends, Morganfield’s could be a good choice for its delicious ribs and snacks. Do give their Homemade Cinnamon Candied Bacon (or American bak kwan as we called it) a try; the signature sticky bones should not be missed as well, and of course, with an ice cold bottle of beer!
