Hee Kee desserts serves up a spread of Hong Kong desserts, with over 80 items on the menu freshly hand-made by in-house chefs. The dessert joint has a vintage Hong Kong style feel to it with soothing 60s jazz music playing in the background. Before we forget to mention, Hee Kee is Halal certified so everyone gets to enjoy what’s on offer!
Our verdict, amongst the desserts we tasted, Traditional Steamed Milk Pudding, the coconut ice cream with peanut crush as well as the D24 Durian Sauce with Sago and Durian pancake are the ones we recommend trying.

A good “kway” also has to marry well with the broth. Here, we were quite impressed with the savory broth that’s doused over the bowl of white noodles, and Xing Yun probably has one of the best versions around. We could fully appreciate the aroma of the herb and spices in the bowl without it being too overpowering. All of us simply loved it.
Of course, another important aspect of a good kway chap is the braised meat and other ingredients. The braised meat was tender and flavoursome, and the seasoning was well permeated deep into the meat and was a succulent dish that we all enjoyed. Other dishes like the salted vegetable was soft and not too salty. Finally, the chili sauce was a good blend of sweet and sour with an appealing tanginess, and most importantly, the right level of spiciness, making it a nice dip to go with the braised items.

Though this food centre is one of the biggest in Singapore, locating the stall is not that difficult, just look for the longest queue and you will most likely find yourself standing in front of the stall. We often saw the snaking line and gave it a pass. Still, our glutton nature won out in the end. We had to find out: why is this kway chap worthy of a 30 minute wait?
$18.50, that was how much we spent to try the food, as we ordered most of the items available on the menu.
The bowl of kway chap has the right texture of chewiness and softness, and a dousing of the braised dark sauce proved to be a good complement to the bowl of soupy kway. Everyone of us enjoyed all the items ordered.
This is one of the best Kway Chap we have eaten.

That orangey red gravy, glistening with promise of a rich and spicy experience was what drew us to this stall. What we got at Ah Heng Curry Chicken Bee Hoon mee managed to whet our appetite on sight, and did not disappoint. The toppings were equally impressive, with tender steamed chicken, perfect soft potatoes and flavourful tau pok – we enjoyed every bite.
This is one of the best Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee we have eaten. Yummy!

one of the best porridge in town

Hwa Yuen porridge has been whipping up bowls of fragrance porridges for the past 50 over years. They have somehow almost perfect the skills in cooking good porridge. The porridge was silky smooth and can take on the challenge to any of the hotel or restaurant standard in Singapore. Though Hwa Yuen porridge is plain in look when served, just some spring onion drizzled over the porridge with fried vermicelli as the topping and garnishing, of course, with the choice of fish slices, pork, fried intestines or mixed pig organs added into the porridge during cooking. However, the porridge practically do not require adding further seasoning like soy sauce or sesame sauce to enhance the taste, the porridge was exceptionally sumptuous and fantastic in taste, we love the silky smooth texture and the taste which make you yearning for more.
