PeriPeri @ Nando's Smile Sep 20, 2013

Categories : Portuguese | Steaks and Grills

Took my friend to Nando's for dinner as this was her first time eating there. We both decided to try Nando's Peri-Peri Chicken with different sides (mine with spicy rice & chips while my friend ordered spinach).

We opt for HOT as the level of hotness of our peri peri sauce. It was delicious!!! Tender chicken, fragrant rice, crisp fries and a lingering peri peri taste that excites the senses lol Would love to go back there and order peri peri chicken again even though their service isn't that excellent due to a large amount of waiting i.e. for them to refill water, get utensils etc.

All things German @ Brotzeit Smile Sep 19, 2013

Categories : German | Bars/Lounges

I've been wanting to go to Brotzeit for a long time now, after travelling to Germany and tasting their pork knuckles there, I was curious if Brotzeit was up to par. We ordered a pork knuckle dish (Cripsy hind shank of grain fed pork served with potato salad, sauerkraut and homemade sauce on the side) and a grilled pork sausage dish (Pork bratwurst sausages with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut). Brotzeit's pork knuckle is while stocks last, meaning for any lunch or dinner there is limited portions of this dish. I must say, both are really really delicious - especially its pork knuckle!!

For 2 people sharing these 2 dishes, it was extremely filling. Even though its pork knuckle is different from the ones I had back in Germany (those were the softer kind), it was still a good dish to have. One thing though, I didn't really like the sauerkraut after taking more than 5 mouthfuls of it, as it's sourness became quite overpowering (or maybe I was too full tongue ) Highly recommended to go try!

We went to the everything with fries outlet at bugis for dinner on a Friday, and was quite surprised that it was rather empty. I've been to that outlet several times already, and I must admit even though the service is average, the food is really good for the price we were paying.

We decided to try The One Egg Soup (quirky name hence we are trying that). It had this egg taste yet it isn't that strong. If you like to try something new, do try it. You may or may not like it, as it has very distinctive taste. If you go for classics, then skip it.

For mains we ordered the Battered Fish Sandwich and the Cheese Burger. I really loved the Battered Fish Sandwich, in which the fish was soft and moist. The Cheese Burger was like the average cheese burger sold outside. Garlic & Herbs fries are the best!! lol

For all pancakes lovers, welcome to Strictly Pancakes! Yup that’s right. They serve nothing (well, almost) but pancakes. Sweet & savory pancakes to suit the different taste buds. We tried both the sweet & savory. Thumbs up!!

Their garlic butter prawns pancake had a rich creamy texture for their sauce and very fresh prawns.
And their mushroom, leeks & potato pancake was not too bad, especially good for those who wants a hearty meal smile

Finally, even though we were already super full, we still tried one sweet pancake. Caramelised Apple & Cinnamon Pancake!! It was served hot, to my surprise, and the caramelised apple was really good - not too soft and not too sweet, just to my liking.

Much as the food was good, however, due to the very small seating capacity of the Prinsep outlet, we had to queue very long to sit inside. For those who don't like waiting, you can choose to take the outside seats, but it tends to be very hot outside as there isn't any air conditioning.

Remember the meme drooling rainbows? Inspired by the rainbow idea, comes the Rainbow Cake. Exclusively found in Le Chocolat Cafe, this small quaint cafe in a boutique hotel sells not only this unique cake but also several other very yummy-licious looking desserts.

I decided to try out this famous rainbow cake of theirs, which costs around $7 per slice. Rich chocolate coating over the colourful layers of sponge cake really made my day smile It was not bad, quite tasty actually. However, Le Chocolat Cafe may want to consider giving a different flavour to each different coloured layer - just to make this cake more premium and exceed customers' expectations!
