Looking through my list of dessert places to try, I decided to go with Pique Nique when I was going to Takashimaya. A fairly small branch compared to the one at JCube, it gave us a very quaint homely feel with a few scattered sofas and the brick walls. It was quite funny because we were seated near their glass window corridor, which was facing KFC, and there were kids that were poking their heads at the window throughout our meal So obviously I ordered their Classic Benedict ($12) and my bf decided to go with The Big Breakfast Burger ($14). It was so delicious!!! I obsolutely love their eggs benedict – creamy, rich and oh so yummy. The burger was not bad also! We ordered some fries as it was looking so good over at the other table ;)I’m sure I will head back to Pique Nique to try more of their dishes next time – all of their food on the menu looks so good. AND I LOVE THE EGGS BENEDICT. Good place for hangout with friends or a date, and definitely worth the price.

MU Parlour, a quiet cafe located at Holland Village. Being a foodie place, to find MU Parlour amongst the multitude of eateries at Holland V wasn’t that easy if you did not have the address. It’s located on the 2nd floor, above Thai Express (looks like some furniture shop when viewing from downstairs due to its unique array of furniture).

The interior of MU Parlour reminds me of Alice in Wonderland (I don’t know why). It looks so tea party-ish We chose No.2 – Beef Patty, Paprika, Chipotle, Avocado, Jalapenos ($16) and No.11 – Beef Patty, Avocado, Streaky Bacon, MU Secret Sauce ($15). For the price we were paying for these 2 gourmet burgers, I would say it was pretty good! The beef patty was juicy enough and the blend of avocado with the paprika and chipotle sauce (all of which are my favourite) brought our the flavours very well. The bacon though, had been a slight disappointment.We were stuffed! But I love desserts, so we decided to try just one tiny one – Lychee Mousse ($8)! Soft, fluffy and sweet, it was rather tasty from the first few spoonfuls. However, it became a bit hard to swallow near the end due to its sweetness. Nonetheless, if you are considering on what to eat at Holland V and getting bored of the usual hangouts, do drop by MU Parlour for its tasty gourmet burgers!

After looking online for places to eat at Marina Square, we came across this interesting eatery called Bao Today (包今天) - a cute name possibly trying to mimic 包青天 I think my profile did mention that I'm a fan of dim sum, thus we went there to have our lunch! At Bao Today, there is no service charge, so diners will have to tick their orders on the sheet of paper and submit it together with payment at the counter before any food is served.

We didn't have to wait very long for our food, due to the efficient service of the staff. We ordered a steamed chicken glutinous rice in bamboo shoot ($6.80) and a cheesy seafood baked rice ($7.80) to share. I absolutely love the steamed chicken glutinous rice!! Generous amounts of tender chicken with yummy glutinous rice. The cheesy baked rice was good too as it was served steaming hot, and with lots of seafood inside. Extremely satisfied and we will go back there very soon!!

Astons used to be and is still currently is one of my favourite "affordable dining places" with friends. Available in many malls, Astons offers meal combos that are not only affordable, but also value for money. My roomie and I head over to bugis+ astons and it was really crowded not only during lunch but also during dinner hours! We each decided to order their combo meals - my roomie ordered Fried Fish with fries and salad as sides, while I took the Black Pepper Chicken with mashed potato and mac & cheese as sides. One thing I just love about astons, is that this whole meal is just < $10 per pax!! Awesome right?

For all pancakes lovers, welcome to Strictly Pancakes! Yup that’s right. They serve nothing (well, almost) but pancakes. Sweet & savory pancakes to suit the different taste buds. We tried both the sweet & savory. Thumbs up!!

Their garlic butter prawns pancake had a rich creamy texture for their sauce and very fresh prawns.
And their mushroom, leeks & potato pancake was not too bad, especially good for those who wants a hearty meal Finally, even though we were already super full, we still tried one sweet pancake. Caramelised Apple & Cinnamon Pancake!! It was served hot, to my surprise, and the caramelised apple was really good - not too soft and not too sweet, just to my liking.Much as the food was good, however, due to the very small seating capacity of the Prinsep outlet, we had to queue very long to sit inside. For those who don't like waiting, you can choose to take the outside seats, but it tends to be very hot outside as there isn't any air conditioning.
