Birthday Celebration @ Covelli Smile Sep 02, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Italian | European | Restaurant | Pasta | Kids-Friendly

Having heard of Covelli Italian Bistro & Wine Bar from my colleagues, I decided to host my boyfriend's birthday celebration over at Covelli. Being located at a rather quiet section in orchard central, tucked nicely at one corner, Covelli had a very lovely ambience for their guests, and especially good for dating ;)

We ordered chicken bread stuffing as our appetizer, which was quite good (I liked the sauce).

Our mains - Wild Mushroom Ravioli and Pasta Al Pesto Gamberi were absolutely delicious and to our liking! The richness of the ravioli cream sauce and strong flavours from the pesto gamberi was unbelievable. Thumbs up!!

And my favourite dish of all was the dessert - Profiterole!!! It was so good, I almost wanted to go for a second round smile

Intending to spring a surprise for my boyfriend, I had initially asked the staff to help me bring over a mini birthday cake that I had bought from Rive Gauche. To my amazement, and great compliments to the service from Covelli, their staff spend the extra effort to decorate the plated cake into one that is so beautiful! And their staff were all very friendly and quick to respond to any of our needs. Thumbs up on their service!!

On the whole, excellent food and service at this particular restaurant! Absolutely love the place - its ambience, food, staff and will definitely return there as one of their regular customers.

All day breakfast @ Pique Nique Smile Sep 01, 2013

Categories : Desserts and Cakes | Burgers and Sandwiches

Looking through my list of dessert places to try, I decided to go with Pique Nique when I was going to Takashimaya. A fairly small branch compared to the one at JCube, it gave us a very quaint homely feel with a few scattered sofas and the brick walls. It was quite funny because we were seated near their glass window corridor, which was facing KFC, and there were kids that were poking their heads at the window throughout our meal smile

So obviously I ordered their Classic Benedict ($12) and my bf decided to go with The Big Breakfast Burger ($14). It was so delicious!!! I obsolutely love their eggs benedict – creamy, rich and oh so yummy. The burger was not bad also! We ordered some fries as it was looking so good over at the other table ;)

I’m sure I will head back to Pique Nique to try more of their dishes next time – all of their food on the menu looks so good. AND I LOVE THE EGGS BENEDICT. Good place for hangout with friends or a date, and definitely worth the price.

Recommended Dish(es):  Classic Benedict

Spending per head: Approximately $30(Breakfast)

Gourmet Burgers @ MU Parlour Smile Sep 01, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes | Burgers and Sandwiches | Brunch

MU Parlour, a quiet cafe located at Holland Village. Being a foodie place, to find MU Parlour amongst the multitude of eateries at Holland V wasn’t that easy if you did not have the address. It’s located on the 2nd floor, above Thai Express (looks like some furniture shop when viewing from downstairs due to its unique array of furniture).

The interior of MU Parlour reminds me of Alice in Wonderland (I don’t know why). It looks so tea party-ish smile

We chose No.2 – Beef Patty, Paprika, Chipotle, Avocado, Jalapenos ($16) and No.11 – Beef Patty, Avocado, Streaky Bacon, MU Secret Sauce ($15). For the price we were paying for these 2 gourmet burgers, I would say it was pretty good! The beef patty was juicy enough and the blend of avocado with the paprika and chipotle sauce (all of which are my favourite) brought our the flavours very well. The bacon though, had been a slight disappointment.

We were stuffed! But I love desserts, so we decided to try just one tiny one – Lychee Mousse ($8)! Soft, fluffy and sweet, it was rather tasty from the first few spoonfuls. However, it became a bit hard to swallow near the end due to its sweetness. Nonetheless, if you are considering on what to eat at Holland V and getting bored of the usual hangouts, do drop by MU Parlour for its tasty gourmet burgers!

Recommended Dish(es):  No.2 burger

Spending per head: Approximately $20(Lunch)

Hearty Meal @ Fish & Co Smile Sep 23, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Restaurant | Seafood | Kids-Friendly

Just a normal dinner during weekdays when I am staying in my hostel (at the furthest end of Singapore mad ), where me and my boyfriend would decide to go to JP for dinner because we are so sick of canteen food. We headed for Fish & Co for a change from our usual eating places. I ordered a Baked Cod with Spicy Teriyaki Sauce with mashed potato and rice while he ordered a Swordfish Collar with mashed potato and fries. Both are equally good but I love the swordfish collar the most. Crisp and flavourful, it goes well with the spicy mango sauce! lol Those who haven't try pls do!

Favourites @ Pepper Lunch Smile Sep 23, 2013

Categories : American | Japanese | Restaurant | Pasta | Steaks and Grills

When I was working near Somerset 313 and was feeling down and exhausted with my never ending pile of work (especially on a Monday with monday blues), I would drop by Food Republic for my favourite Pepper Lunch for lunch. My regular order would be the curry chicken pepper lunch (with cheese) as I like my food spicy. The reason why I love the food at Pepper Lunch is because everything sizzles on the plate! With bite-size chicken pieces that gets cooked on the hot plate, piping hot rice with bits of seasame and curry powder on it and the melted cheese all over, it just warms your heart and makes you feel happy all over again. You can even add $1 for an extra egg to your meal! One of my favourite places! lol

Recommended Dish(es):  Curry chicken

Spending per head: Approximately $8(Lunch)
